hi I recieved this in my email from my internet provider (name deleted of course) my internet providerer closed down out internet acess for nearly 20 hours to debug there system and those of you that need to protect your pc here is simple instructions
In order to protect *** Internet and Cable from the latest version of the worm virus
we were forced to do emergency maintenance on our network. During this emergency
maintenance we had to take down the network for a short period of time. We apologize
for any inconvenience this may have caused. We would encourage you to protect
yourself from this virus as well. The instructions below will instruct you how to do
this.
To protect yourself from this worm virus please follow the instructions below.
1. Go to http://www.nai.com
2. In the Virus Advisory box click the w32/nachi.worm link
3. Click on removal instructions
4. Scroll down to Stand alone remover
5. Click on the Stinger link
6. Download Stinger.exe and save to your desktop folder
7. When the download has completed navigate to the desktop folder
8. Double click the Stinger Icon
9. You may add additional drives to the scan feature
10. Click Scan Now
11. Stinger will repair any infected files found
Windows XP Instructions
1. Go to http://www.nai.com
2. In the Virus Advisory box click the w32/nachi.worm link
3. Click on removal instructions
4. Scroll down to Stand alone remover
5. Click on the Stinger link
6. Download Stinger.exe and save to your desktop folder
7. Right click the My Computer Icon and click properties
8. Click the System Restore Tab
9. Place a check mark in the box marked "Turn Off System Restore"
Note: To re-enable the Restore Utility, follow steps one to five and on step three
remove the check mark next to 'Turn off System Restore on All Drives'.
10. Click OK
11. Restart your Computer
12. When the restart has completed navigate to the desktop folder
13. Double click the Stinger Icon
14. You may add additional drives to the scan feature
15. Click Scan Now
16. Stinger will repair any infected files found
WindowsME
