  • Prolapse question

    Hello ladies.

I was wondering if anyone on here has any kind of prolapse? I started having this odd sensation of feeling like something is inside my vagina for the last couple weeks. I went to my gynecologist ( I saw the PA since the doctor was booked). She did an exam and said I have a mild cystocele. I am supposed to go for physical therapy, but cannot get in until July. I had surgery a little over two years ago ( laparsscopic hysterectomy with extensive endometriosis excision). I have heard that women who have had hysterectomy can develop a prolapse. I am wondering if you can fix a prolapse with physical therapy. The PA said prolapse is very common and rarely will need surgical repair. She said PT can help. Anyone else on here deal with a cystocele or other prolapse? What has helped you with it? Did it make your IC worse?

I had a cystocele --- whether it needs to be repaired can depend on whether it's causing symptoms, along with size. Mine was significant enough to need to be repaired. I ended up spending one night in the hospital. The surgery did not have any effect on my IC.

Hi Donna. Thanks for responding. What kind of doctor diagnosed your cystocele? The one who examined me did it while I was lying down so not sure how accurate that is. I think they need to examine while standing to get a true idea as gravity changes thing's. I feel mine more while standing. The PA who examined me at the gynecologist said mine felt mild. My symptom is just a sensation of something being inside my vagina if that makes sense. What symptoms did you have?

I actually diagnosed myself --- then my gynecologist confirmed the diagnosis and did the surgery. I didn't actually have any symptoms other than feeling there was "something" stuck there --- and mine was low enough to be visible. My doctor felt it with me laying down, but also had me stand --- I suspect to learn how severe it was.
