  • So Happy!!!

    Hello all,
I just wanted to share my good news with everyone with the hope that this may help someone else!! I just had my 3rd hydro and my bladder capacity has increased considerably with each one!

I have hydro's to help with the pain. Pain has always been my biggest complaint. My first hydro my capacity was 700cc when I was diagnosed. Then I started doing elmiron instills myself at home and taking atarax at night. The next year my capacity was 950! I continue to do my instills but went to just 2 times a week unless I am in a flare. This year my capacity was 1200cc!!!!!!!! I was floored!!

The only oral meds I take for my bladder are atarax and MSM(It is a supplement and I know it has helped with the inflammation) and ofcourse pain meds as needed. I do follow the IC diet, but have been able to expand it some from 4 years ago. Ofcourse it took me a while to get a dr that even knew what IC was and get diagnosed--like most of us here.

I truly believe the elmiron instills have allowed my bladder to heal and therefore it can stretch out bigger each time I have a hydro. I hope this one lasts longer than a year but I can not in any way, shape, form or fashion complain and I thank God everyday for this treatment!!! There was a time that I could not work and had to go to the pain clinic and never in a million years could you have convinced me then that I could be where I am today!!

Thank you all for all the support and great information I got from you! It allowed me to see what worked for who and compare symptoms ect so my dr and I could come up with a plan that worked for me!!! I hope this can help someone else too!!!!!!!!!!
    hugs

      Brianna,
Good for you! It gives the rest of us hope to hear some good news, too! I am so happy that the elmiron is working for you. I am just starting it orally, in addition to more weekly instills. Have already had 12 weeks of weekly instills, bladder is smaller than it was, but Uro told my family that it looked better, so I am thinking good thoughts. Thanks for the good news!

Failed treatments: Elmiron both instilled and oral caused severe increase in liver enzymes
      Elavil and Ditropan-severe bladder retention
Currently on pain mgmt, lidocaine gel topically also gives some relief after initial 2-4 min burning when applied.
Prior treatment included pelvic floor therapy and TENS unit, both of which I still do as needed.
