I never got my urodynamics records yet, but I will soon. I just wanted to know how much the average female bladder is supposed to hold? I know they normally give the number in cc's, and I want to convert that to fluid ounces and measure it myself until I get my results. (29.574cc=1 fluid ounce), I believe. Thank you.

The normal female bladder holds about 500 or so cc's awake. Under anesthesia, a normal female bladder capacity is about 800-1000cc.****

I'm assuming it holds about 500 cc's when you feel like you absolutely cannot hold it any longer. I was also wondering, when most of you go to the bathroom, how much do you usually void at that time, assuming it is a relatively normal trip to the bathroom (such as, you didn't have to hold it, or you are not just voiding a "little amount" to get relief). Thank you.

my urologist and his team said 500 cc's is average - my bladder doesn't hold that much! Prior to my cystoscopy, I asked them how much they fill it up; they said they aim for the 500 cc's but if it doesn't hold that much to begin with, it will just come out when it's full, so they do it to the point your bladder can hold it without it coming right back out...

My records say that my bladder was filled to capacity of sustained intravsical pressure of 100cm of water for 2 full minutes then the bladder was emptied. Then it says the total bladder capacity was 300mL.
HELP?
It also says that my mucosa was moderately hyperemic but no evidence of glomerulations. Is that possibly because he didn't fill my bladder past capacity?
Other issues were a "quite capacious" urethra and needing to go from a 21 french catheter to a 14 french because the irrigating fluid was leaking from around the cytoscope which made it necessary to apply pressure over the bladder neck and applying traction.
He diagnosed me with severe atypical Interstitial Cystitis.
Sounds neat. *rolleyes*
Sigh...anyone want to help with this?

That's strange. It says on my operative report that my bladder was slightly hyperemic, but no evidence of any glomerations either! But I never know what they "filled" my bladder to, since I am a newly diagnosed patient, I didn't think to ask at the time, but I am going to ask in about 2 weeks.

Before being treated for IC, My bladder would hold 550cc+. My urogyn would not fill it more than that. I retained 300cc. at that time.
After starting instillations I still have a capacity of more than 550cc but my retention is down to less than 125cc...results of urodynamics in Sept.TREATMENT: PRN lidocaine/heparin Home Instillations since 2004
