I put my ice eg froozen water bottle, plastic encased reg ice pk, or bag of crushed ice, in and old cotton sock, or wrap up in an old tea towel, face cloth, put between pad and you, depending on how heavy your period is you may have to change it often, but you still get the effect of the cool ice.
You could also just use a light day pad on ice pk but they tend not to sick to the froozen pk too well.
Hope this doesn't last too long, I also find feezing ont, ont last longer than gel, I use the 5% kind, it helps for this kind of thing, burn when you first put it on but worth the releif.

hi
glad you made it thru ok: wow, it sounds like you have a most compassionate doctor. i hope you make a speedy recovery!
Thanks.
Yes, I really like this doctor.
The reason I probably did not get IC help sooner was b/c my old URO was a jerk. The old uro made me feel like a drug addict b/c my V doc had me on 40mg of Elavil.
I gave up with that URO and when I was ready to find a new one my fiance recommended this new one.
I'm sorry you're in pain. Hopefully the Vicoden will kick in soon. You might try an ice pack on that area, it usually helps me. Also, when I had my cysto/hydro it really hurt for the first day, then after that I was just sore for about 4-5 days. Then I was back to my normal "whatever". Just take it easy and try to relax and let the meds work. I hope you're feeling better soon.
Thanks so much
I really want to use some of my ice supplies, but I have my stupid period so it's difficult b/c of the whole pad in the way situation. I can't use tampons b/c of my PFD.

My throat is very sore and dry ever since I woke up and I am very groggy.
My urethra is a hot mess right now I cry every time I pee or wipe. But he gave me vicodin, so I am hoping this is just a passing thing.
No signs of cancer or other odd lumps : )
They did discover that I have an abnormally small and narrow urethra.
He just wants me to continue on Elmiron for three months and then check back in with him. He says stretching my urethra is something we may want to consider in the future, but he doesn't think it is necessary right now.
This was just a regular cysto. He doesn't make patients do the hydro, he diagnoses IC based on symptoms, potassium test, infectious tests coming back all negative, medical history etc.
I know some people get the regular cysto done awake, but since I suffer from so many pelvic pain problems he thought it was best not to attempt it.
Good luck! Please give yourself ample time to recover and lots and lots of rest. It can take a good while to recover from this surgery. Take care of yourself!
