    Hi,
So what is a normal recovery and how should I be feeling?Granted I had mine with capsacian, I just can't recall. It isn't spontanious right, like it takes time to "kickin"? Would love any insight. I am less then 48 hrs post hydro, lots of low grade bladder pain and freuguency. Some retention at first then frequency.

    Thanks a lot.
I am blessed to have an Indiana Pouch now
IC since childhood, finally diagnosed at 31 yo
    PFD/Pelvic Pain,SI joint and LBP
Low Back Pain s/p spinal fusion at 19 with more nastiness in back
    Hydrodistension 2001, 2005, 2011 w capsacian, 2011 with botox/ super pubic tube
Interstim trial and removel 2002,C-Section 2007 and 2010, Post Partum Depression, post partum hypertension, Idopathic hypothalmic amenorrhea
Radical Cystectomy with Indiana Pouch 2/3/12--->multiple complications and revision of ureters in pouch due to a giant ball of scar tissue in 8/12, occasional pylo, L kidney small and scarred, low flow
Hysterectomy 2/3/12 w one ovary removed
    Dry Eyes
L radical nephrectomy 1//3/14 after a long "what if " the conversation, kidney working 4 %, path said full of absesses
Still have issues, still take meds.

I have worked some, been doing pilates, just got a post masters in nursing, learning to pace myself.
Learning things I can't do, learning things that I need to take a LONG time to master and regain myself, but mostly just so happy to be bladder free.:

It takes me only a few days, but some people take a month or two for full recovery. If your symptoms worsen, you do need to check with your doctor to be sure you don't have an infection working.

I felt fine just a few hours after the hydro/cysto/biopsy. Actually went to dinner that night. Everyone responds differently to pain, and everyone heals at different intervals. Should you not start feeling improvement within the next couple of days, or start feeling worse, that would warrant a call/visit to your Dr.

        Wishing you well..

I had complications b/c of the hydro and was several months til recovery. But still I recovered eventually and had no permanent issues due to that surgery, and I imagine you won't, either. Hope you feel better.

I had a hydro yesterday and definitely feel better today. I'm still taking it easy for a few days though.

Hydrodistentions have helped me but I am never sure if I should wait until I have much frequency which is the most uncomfortable for me or go when I am having more pain then usual. After having a long stay in the hospital which was awful and had nothing to do with IC I kind of have cold feet. I know it's only day surgery but I'm having panic attacks just thinking of going to a hospital. Big sissy I guess. The pain is increasing. Suck it up and go???? Hugs, Ziggy

When I explained to my GP I was having anxiety about doing something, so therefore not doing it, as eg afraid to fly he rxed me a few anti anxiety meds to be taken just prior or the the day or so before maybe in your case.

You only need a few to get you past this.

It might be worth discussing this with your gp or uro.

I had a cysto/hydro on April 19th and started feeling better a few weeks later. Since I've had it done, I have some very slight discomfort every time I urinate, but the frequency and urgency was gone. Starting over the weekend, I have gone into a flare. Not sure if I am still in the "recovery" phase for the hydro or what. I am hoping that the flare calms down. My flares usually consist of burning and feeling like I have to pee really bad. As my bladder fills, that feeling goes away.

                        Still Flaring

It's been a week and I'm still flaring. I started taking Colostrum yesterday to see if that helps. I really don't want to go back to the uro because the next step is DMSO treatments? Has anybody had any success with Colostrum or the DMSO?

DMSO helped me for several years. The instillations were painful at first, however.

There are other medications that can be used in instillations as well and aren't as painful.

I tried DMSO, I do think it helpped me, but I had too much done at once, I went into retention afterwards and got a UTI so I was sick for 3 weeks afterwards.

                            I under anastetic I had a cysto/ hydro/biopsy/ and DMSO treatment.

I told the nurse in recovery I needed to pee, she said no you have to hold the DMSO till you move out to day surgery area.

I am sure byt this time I had already held it as long as I needed too, and if I have to go and don't go then I can't go, and that is exactly what happened, I ended up holding it in for over 12 hours.

I would try it again, but with a discussion a head of time, about only having the DMSO and how long I have to hold it.

Just so we are all on the same page.

I recover from a hydro anywhere between 2 weeks to 2 months. I get them done once a year. They really help me.

I also tried DMSO treatments (prior to hydro) and it made my bladder alot worse. It wasn't for me.

You will find what is right for you.
