  • Pain meds for pain after cystoscopy

Had a cystoscopy today...now I not only have the constant pain/urgency, but it hurts very bad when I urinate...What med can I take to help with the burning/stinging/feels like razor blades pain?

Usually after an office cystoscopy a couple of glasses of water helps get rid of the irritation.

I had my cystocsopy on monday afternoon and i had it under anastesia. I am in so much pain i cry everytime i urinate, blessing is that i have been given percocet for 3 days to help witht the pain. My dr said that I need to follow the diet and take elmiron, but the down fall to taking elmiron is that my insurance does not cover it and it is very exspensive. I am a college student and am not working at the time cause i am a full time student with no extra time. I am having alot of pain even when i take the percocet and have been spotting blood. I am assuming that the spotting is normal from them poking around in my bladder, I have been sick to my stomach since the cystoscopy and hydrostention, Anyone have any idea how I can get rid of this excruciating pain? Any tips on how or where i can look for help with the cost of elmiron. anything will help

      Thanks

I just had a cystoscopy last Thursday and my doctor gave me percocet, motrin, and phenazopyridine. I found that everything but the motrin made me feel really sick, so I've just been taking that. It's perscription strength, but I'm sure if you don't have an rx you can just get some over the counter. I hope you're feeling better soon! My doctor also suggesting using a heating pad to alleviate pain.

tikilynn1, if the pain doesn't get better by noon today, I suggest you telephone the doctor who did your procedure and ask for help. It could be that you have an infection and you don't want to let it worsen.

          Warm hugs,

Definitely call your doctor. When I had my cystoscopy last week I was told that if I got a fever I should call the doctor immediately because it could be a sign of infection.
