  • cysto then a horriable drive home

I went to see a new uro, they put me in a room and said to strip from waist down and get on the table, the lady then looked at me nd said they did tell you were haveing a cysto today, I said no, but no big deal.

I had the cysto and it was no big deal, I really need to get my clinic to get thoses uro jets, I didn't feel the cath going in at all.

After a long app, we headed for home, I am always uncomfortable and feel the need to pee more after cysto.

We decided to stop for some lunch likely, and then head for home a 8 hour drive away, we got most of the way out the freeway when the traffic slowed to a crawl and we figured there must have been an accident.

Well 5 hours later we had made it about 40 miles down the road. there had been a land slide and the road was closed, there was a detour, but about 3 main roads all joined into one small road.

Well part way along we had been stopped for quite a while and I really needed to pee, thing is it was raining hard, the grass on the sides of the road was 3 feet tall, I was going to get socked if I went into the bushes.

I got depsreate so my husband said he would get out and hold a blanket around me and I could pee, we got out but the traffic was backed up for miles and miles, people were walking up and down the roads, I finally walked down the road away and found a bit of a trial I could go up and pee, boy did I ever have to go. What a relief.

This would have been bad enough but to have just had a cysto too just made it worse.

Our 8 hour drive became 13 hours, I don't do too well in car either and we drove down on Monday night, drove around on Tuesday here and there to shop, and then drove home on Wenesday after my uro app.

At least my husband had been able to drive me, I don't think I could have made it if he had not been there to drive.

    Just my luck MG
My are with you all. May you all find a way to peace and joy in your lives.

I'm glad you're finally home. We've had some of those experiences too and it's just not fun! You might want to invest in some Travel Johns for your next road trip. They're great and you can go in your car without making a mess.

      IC donna ?

      Hi donna,
      What's a travel john? Like a diaper?

A Travel John consists of a plastic oval "ring" that fits on the perineal area. Attached to the ring is a plastic bag containing a liquid-absorbing substance. You hold the "ring" fairly tightly against the area and urinate into the plastic bag through the ring. The ring is about 4 inches long and about two inches wide. It's easier to use if you're wearing a dress.

When I first got some, I took one in our shower to try it out and they work just fine.

a funny story - now that is!

I know how you feel. One night I was going back home and I got stuck behind a car accident. I couldn't turn around, I couldn't back up so that I could get to the gas bar 5 minutes drive back the road. I was stuck there for five and half hours. I needed to pee as soon as I stopped at the accident. So here I was three cars back from the accident, all the emergency cars and trucks parked on the side of me, and all these bystanders surrounding my car. I had no idea what to do but I knew I had a blanket in the back of the car and my friend had just gave me a milk frother. So here I am in my car with the blanket wrapped around me and the frother underneath me peeing as all these people are walking pass my car. I did this more than once during my five hour wait there. The last time I did it, somebody knocked on my car window... it was so embarassing.. however, I still don't know if they realize what I was doing. Needless to say, I have never used the frother ever - it has become my watering container for my plants...LOL.

On that note - I am having a cysto-hydro done on Tuesday. I leave tomorrow to drive to the airport which is five hours away and I am really nervous because I am really unsure how I am going to get home after returning to the airport on Wednesday morning. I;m not sure if I am going to be able to sit that long - with the pain I'm in. Praying that it will be okay!

Oh well - I can't stress about it now. I'll just have to wait until Wednesday. Pray for me. Thanks!

          Blessings,
          Wizbe

          Current Meds:
          1 Elmiron 100mg 3x a day
          1 Cimetidine 300mg 2x a day
          4 Gabapentin 300mg 3x a day (3600mg)
          1 - 2 Atarax 25mg at bedtime
          1 baclofen 10mg 3x a day as needed
200mg of Pyridium 3x a day (usually do in cycles - on for a week or two as needed) - I am very careful about this.
2 belladonna and opium suppositories as needed for pain daily.
Bladder instillations (Lidocaine, Heparin, & Sodium Bicarbonate)

I have tried but failed -
lidocaine instillations, heparin instillations, oxybutynin by mouth also called ditropan, tylenol 3s with coedine, cyclobenzaphrine, Ativan, vesicare, Oxytrol patches worked for 3 to 4 years and then failed, I tried Uracyst and had some success but my urologist felt that it was not successful so we moved on to trying something else. .

I had a travel John in my bag, but I had to go so bad I was not thinking right and didn't think about it.

I need to tell my husband to remind me I always carry one with me.

Good idea to try it out in the shower first.

I also need to start leaving a travel john in each vehical, although I always carry one with my epi pen and I never go any where without my epipen.

Thanks for the suggestion, now if you could remind me when I am in the situation, that would be great.

            Thanks MG
