  • cath urine test?

    hi,
weent to my uro this AM for my check-up...nurse prepped me for a cath urine dip & spin test...
wow, now since then i am very uncomfortable...from such a simple test? i feel very irritated in the urethra...and have had the feeling all day that i have to go to pee but really don't have to...make any sense? is this a normal feeling after being cathed for urine? he was checking me because of my microhematuria....
obviously i never had this done before so i am not sure if what i am feeling is normal or not..
    thanks,
    lori

What you are feeling is not unusual after being catheterized. I have become so used to it that it doesn't bother me any more.

You might ask if a "clean catch" would be adequate next time. I'm sure the nurse would be happy to instruct you.

    Warm hugs,
    Donna

      Hi Donna,

thank you so much...as always you have come through for me...I can always rely on your wisdom and sweet replies...thank you...you are truly a blessing to this site...I am glad what I am feeling is normal and I know tomorrow I will be back to my usual happy & energetic self....
My uro only did this because I have been showing microhematuria for some months but he was pleased that today was only trace blood so he doesn't plan on doing any further cathing of me....
Thank you again Donna....I sincerely appreciate you & your help...
      warm hugs to you also,
