urodynamics testing and will they hurt?

Hello everyone my uro wants to do these test called urodynamics and i'm afraid to have them done, are they very painful? any information would be greatly appreciated. ty

Hi,
I had urodynamics testing done.. It does not really hurt-- just a bit uncomfortable. They fill your bladder and ask you to let them know when you have the urge to pee..somehow they measure the pressure and then you pee into a container and they measure what you were able to hold.

Pam ty for letting me know it won't be all that bad. I am having those done November 13th, he also wants to look in my bladder with a catheter(spelling), i hope that don't hurt..... He had put me on some pills for now i hope they help. ty for responding back

Hi Lisa, I had the urodymanic study test done also and I can only hold 190cc of water.It is very uncomfortable. I will be praying for you. Let us know how you make out and keep posting.

Well, I seem to be the exception. Caths are never fun but the urodynamics actually felt good in my case. I insisted on sterile water, not sodium chloride and this will sound totally bizarre, but there is something about having the urine washed off my bladder wall that gives me immense relief for a few mins. anyway. Every time I've had sterile water instilled into my bladder like during voiding cystourethrogram with dye in it, for other tests etc., it feels so soothing having the urine washed off my bladder wall. Go figure.
