• micturition study...my results....

hea every body....i hope every body had a great thanksgiving and also preparing to have a great CHRISTMAS...
HERE IS WHAT THE DR. WROTE IN HIS REPORT FROM THE TEST(micturition-study) that they did on me ... it hurt soo bad ... it was somewhat like the URODYNAMICS TEST -that I had already.
MICTURITION STUDY:
MICTURITION STUDY WASPERFORMED IN THE USUAL FASHION.FREE FLOW SHOWS VOIDED OF 76 WITH A PEAK OF 8.5 AT MEAN OF 4. POST VOID WAS 180. CYSTOMETROGRAM SHOWS A LOW CAPACITY BLADDER WITH HYPERSENSITIVITY. THERE IS SOME PRESSURE ARTIFACT BUT I DO NOT THINK ANY CLEAR -CUT UNINHIBITED CONTRACTIONS. DURING THE VOIDING PHASE SHE VOIDS WITH AN IRREGULAR BLADDER CONTRACTIONS AND HAS A PRESSURE OF ABOUT 30 DURING PEAK FLOW. FLUOROSCOPICALLY THE BLADDER WALL IS SMOOTH WITH NO VESICOURETERAL REFLUX IS DETECTED AND THERE IS SOMEWHAT POOR FLOW THROUGH THE URETHRA DURING VOIDING.
STUDIES ARE MIXED BUT SUGGEST SOME DETRUSOR MOTOR IMPAIRMENT AND A LOW CAPACITY HYPERSENSITIVE BLADDER. THE FINDINGS ARE COMPATIBLE WITH IC AND NEUROPATHIC PAIN..
THE END OF REPORT...
HE DID PUT ME ON : ELAVIL 100mg nightly
ELMIRON 100mg 3x daily
ULTRAM 50mg every 6 hrs as needed for pain...
and since i have been on this medication , i have had pain... and sleeping a little better but not as i should ...still wake up with urges and pressure to pee... and still have plvic pain... i know i need to wait to let med's get in my body .. it takes time but i am so ready to have a pain free day...
and also the dr. wrote on his plan paper::

impression..IC
RETURN IN 3 MONTHS FOR FOLLOW-UP AND ASSESSMENT OF PROGESS. WE WILL PROBABLY PLAN TO REPEAT CYSTO AND .. HYDRODISTENTION HERE TO ASSESS HER FUTHER IF SHE IS NOT CLEARLY IMPROVED AT THAT VISIT..

OK.... MY QUESTION IS WHAT DO ANY OF YOU MAKE OF MY REPORT HE WROTE... I WAS REFERED TO HIM BY UROLOGY DR. I AM GLAD HE HAS PUT ME ON NITE MED... EVEN THO' I REALLY CAN'T TELL TO MUCH DIFFERENT IN THE WAY I FEEL.... AND WHAT IS
NEUROPATHIC PAIN...AND WHAT DOES DETRUSOR MEAN?

SORRY FOR THIS BEING SO LONG I HOPE SOME ONE CAN EXPLAIN TO ME IN WAY SO I CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON WITH ME ... THANKS FOR READING

LIL'BREN,

"Neuropathic" relates to bladder nerve changes. Go to:
http://www.ichelp.org/FeatureArticle...icOptions.html

and see section "Neuropathic Changes". This is just one of the many possible causes of IC.

The detrusor is simply the main muscle of the bladder.

Yes detruser is the main muscle- the muscle that creates the motion of voiding or micturation. I did not have this study done, but it sounds relatively like how my bladder feels to me....

Your report tells me that you had 180ml left in your bladder after a void. The bladder was smaller than usual(low capacity), and the tissue was hypersensative. There was some sense of pressure to the machine(pressure artifact)...like perhaps the tissue was less elastic than normal tissue...but it did not actually spasm (uninhibited contractions) Pressure of contractions to create a "micturation reflex" (the muscle urge to pee-not what you feel, but when the muscle contracts to actually void) was 30mmHG. This means that the amount of fluid in your bladder was around 300ml. No vesicoureteral reflux is good: this means your ureters from your kidneys ARE fully emptying and that backup is not occuring-which is important for your kidneys! It said the actual flow through the urethra was "poor."

Thats exactly what it feels like when I go: I pee, it doesnt come out all that fast, there is still some left, my bladder doesnt hold as much. Sometimes I think I actually feel bladder spasms...who knows. Thanks for sharing this information. I hope I helped a little....Im a nurse and used to translating.

I also find physiology fascinating. If you have any questions let me know. I am interested to know more about the procedure...were you awake- you said it hurt so bad?!?

Over time, Elavil should help the "neuropathic" pain. (Pain from bladder nerves.) Ultram should help get through this part And I havent tried Elmiron, but I hear that helps too!!

I wish you the best of luck and pain free days.
Happy HOlidays and happy new year!!
Thank you for sharing your experiance.
