Are you catheterizing now? Are you able to urinate at all? If you can urinate, but just feel like you are retaining it could be that it's just one of the pesky symptoms of IC. Will you be seeing your uro soon?

Lots of people self catheterize, I'm sure they could shed some light on the subject for you.

        Hi,
Does anyone out there have ALOT of retension and swelling, when you travel?
We just returned from a cruise, and both of my legs and anklets were swollen so big the only shoe I could get on was a slipper! I wore them almost the whole cruise, i swear I could feel the water move around in my anklets when I would take a step! The pain was off the charts in my back and side, from running up 6 flights of stairs on a SURPRISE fire drill!!! I would have been trampled if I had stopped! I spent the rest of day in our cabin, with my poor husband not knowing what to do. Thank God Tuesday came and I felt better, but NOT the swelling , it stayed with me until I got home!
        Has anyone had this problem?

Susan, you really need to discuss your swelling problem with your physician. I had a blood pressure medication that caused my ankles to look like stovepipes! As soon as I was off the med, the swelling went away. If you are retaining that much fluid, you need to find out why --- it definitely isn't good for you.

          Sending warm hugs,
          Donna

            Hi Donna,
Thanks for the info. I went to the uro., and he seem to think it was caused from RUNNING up all those stairs, but I don't believe that for a moment! I also have an appointment with my internist on the 14 of July. I know that could not be normal! I don't take any blood pressure pills, so maybe then I will find out something from the internist, hopefully!
            Thanks again, love the board!
