  • Does it hurt??

    Who has had urodynamics done??

The woman who schedules the appointments told me the test doesn't hurt and I would be able to drive myself home. I had only glanced at the brochure and thought I was just going to be peeing in a magic toilet.

I was having trouble sleeping and looked at it again and saw parts about having a catheter used and a rectal probe. I have vulvodynia and my urertha and whole pelvic area hurts from the littlest things. I was going to drive myself when I thought I was just peeing in a toilet b/c even though i have anxiety about driving in the city I didn't want to bother my fiance or dad, especially since my fiance is taking off work when i get my hydro.

Has anyone had this?? Did it hurt?? Should I arrange a ride??

If you're already nervous about driving, I think it would be a good idea to have someone with you. It's been many years since I had mine done, but my husband did go with me.

My test definitely wasn't fun, but not horrible either.

I'd recommend having someone drive you, if that's possible. My urodynamics test (about a year ago) was extremely uncomfortable, and painful especially in my urethra. Prepare yourself for some discomfort, but hopefully your test will go more smoothly than mine.

Thanks ladies, I have decided to get a ride.

My urethra is evil and it doesn't take much for it to hurt.

Good for you that you found someone to drive you!

I've had a urodynamics in the past. The worst was getting the cath in, and if you are very sensitive in that area, this might hurt. I've read in other threads that you can ask for a pediatric cath and sedative gel. I'm having another one scheduled in august, and will be taking a painkiller in advance.

Usually, these things are not painful, just annoying, and hopefully, this will be the case for you too. Unfortunately, IC patients aren't very usual people ;-)
