Hi all - hope New Year's was happy for you. Just feeling down today; I've been sick with the flu for the last week (so have my 3 baby boys - my daughter and husband got the flu shot, so they weren't sick, thank goodness!). I've not been diagnosed yet, so not on any meds, but I felt really good bladder-wise while I was sick - even though I had a high fever and felt like $%@#$! in every other way. Had absolutely no symptoms for 3 or 4 days. But this morning, the first day I don't have a fever and am actually starting to feel better from the flu, I can feel my bladder - nothing major, just a mild burning that I probably wouldn't even notice if I wasn't obsessing about it all the time, but it's THERE. I just want to have a day where my health concerns aren't overshadowing everything! My husband has been off work the last week, but he goes back on Monday, and maybe I'm being a baby, but it makes me cry to think about having to look after my kids (9 yrs, 2 yrs, and 10 mnth old twins) every day by myself with this thing hanging over my head. I'm just so FRUSTRATED!!!! Somebody tell me to get my act together and cheer up please!!!

I have two girls ages 5 and 3 and when I first started having symptoms my mom actually had to come and get them. It wasn't really the symptoms that were the big problem it was the depression and the fear and the constant obsessing. All I talked about or thought about was my bladder and I will tell you that made it so much worse. I would notice every little thing and get totally frantic. I would ask people if they ever did this or felt that and they would be like yea so what and I finally figured out that my constant obsessing was only making it harder on me. It took awhile but now I take it as it comes and if in pain take a pain pill, if in a bad flare then I take a break from life and just rest as much as I can. You will learn how to deal with this if you have IC and things will be fine. Come here anytime!!

      Success

hi Hello and welcome to the boards...The flu has been just awful this year, I had it myself, so I can sure sympathise. I hope you are feeling better soon, and if you can, try to get someone to take your kids for a couple of hours so you can rest. Best of luck, and please keep us posted as to how you are doing. grouphug

Hi Mar, and welcome to the boards, I think the flu is really hitting everyone this year and it is the pits. I know it must be tough with small ones as well to look after. Try not to obsess too much about your bladder, I know exactly what you mean, that is all I could think about, before I was diagnosed, and after, until I got sick of myself thinking about it all the time, and I quit doing it. Felt a whole lot better about the whole situation, the stress can make it worse for you in the long run. Hope that you can get some rest for a while, I know how tough it is with small ones and not feeling good. Take care and we are always here for you to let lose and vent as much as you want. The gals here are great and can help you a lot to deal with IC, I know they are a wonderful support team for me, and God bless every one of them for being here, take care keep us postedx, hugs Iris. hi grouphug

Hi and welcome. I know what flu you are talking about, I'm fighting something off too. Please take care of yourself, I don't have any children, so I cannot even imagine the struggle you are going through. Let us know how you are doing.

              Hugs,
