Kidney Pain

Hello there,

I am in the process of getting dignosed with IC. My symtoms are pain and bladder pressure, urgency, frequency, burning and vulvar pain. Once in a while I also get mild kidney pain in either one of my kidneys and sometimes in both....this pain is not as bad as when I had a kidney infection, sometimes I don't even have to take tylenol (the only OTC painkiller I can handle)...has anyone else have this along with IC symtoms?

About 2 years ago before I got dxd with IC I felt sharp pains in my kidneys. I went to a uro. They thought I had kindney stones (which I didnt) but I was having uti's. I'm assuming that it got so bad it went to my kidneys?? Im not sure but I would talk to your dr about that. I hope you get an answer soon.

I just got dx with IC last week. I don't have frequency problems very often. My pain is mainly in my kidney area. Mainly the right side but sometimes the left. I am tired and sick to my stomach all the time. My bladder hurts when I pee. My lower back cramps a lot.The kidney pain was why I went to the doctor. They thought I had stones, but never found any. They did the hydro last week and my bladder only held 600cc when I was under and was bleeding. I go monday to find out what they are going to put me on.

Thanks for your replies, I'm glad to know this is just one more IC related thing...and not some other thing. Right now I'm having urine retention and kidney pain (again) and some strange movement in my kidneys...like they shake sometimes...going to see the uro this afternoon...he wants a urine sample, but I'm not sure I'll be able to provide it...not sure what part he does not understand about urine retention....not sure if I should keep drinking water since nothing is coming out?

Well as you can see I'm just venting here...sorry I try not to dwell on this but sometimes!!!....can't wait to get health isurance so I can finally get diagnosed.

HI sorry about your urninary retention. For me luckly this is one problem I dont have to deal with. Mine are mainly urgency, freq and pain. But I know alot of others on here have this problem. Alot of them self cath at home. But I do understand about the lack of health insurance. I have the InterStim for my IC, and after a car accident it got messed up, and because of no insurance then it took me over a year to get it fixed. It is frustrating enough to deal with IC but to deal with it and have no insurance is rough.
