  • Not "officially" diagnosed yet, but....

I've posted to the boards yesterday but figured I'd post here since I'm not "officially" diagnosed yet. Two of my docs, my pcp and my gyno are almost positive I have IC. My gyno suggested visiting this forum and reading up on IC and doing the diet and taking Prelief. She also referred me to a uro who I see on Thursday and who, when I asked his receptionist, said he only treats IC "to an extent" *sigh*. I'm looking for a good doc in the Arizona East Valley area (Mesa, Tempe, Gilbert, Chandler, Apache Junction) who treats IC. If anyone knows of a good doc I'd appreciate the referral.

Right now I have burning pain vaginally, like paper cuts almost...pain and pressure in the bladder area and it kind of radiates to the rectal area. I also get dull pain in the kidney area. My abdomen is totally bloated also, which I hate, since I'm on a diet and just lost 4 pounds (my first week, yay for me! :woohoo: ) and it feels like I gained because I'm so bloated. I also have cramps in the lower abdomen, almost like period cramps, but I had a hysterectomy 25 years ago so that's not the cause.

Anyway, since I've been posting I've had a lot of help and wonderful advice from people here. I want to thank everyone who's been so kind to me. This forum is invaluable. Thank you!

I think it sounds like you have pelvic floor dysfunction. The pain and crampiness is a key sign, especially since it radiates rectally. Sounds like a muscle spasm.

Good luck finding a great doctor who will get you well again!

      Thank you for your help.
More questions...would vulvodynia or Pelvic Floor Dysfunction cause itching and irritation...like razor blades feeling in the vaginal area also? Who diagnoses that? A gyno or uro?
      What's VV?
      Thanks again for the help!

To respond to your question, have you checked the physician listings on this site? I hope you find a urologist soon.
