  • cold laser?

    Hi all,

I had my 2nd PT session today. My PT did some extensive external trigger point massaging of my inner thigh. Yeeooow! Anyway she also did something called cold laser therapy. It looked like a medium size flashlight. I didn't feel anything and feel no worse no better. just wondered if anyone has had this used?
I'm not sure how much the PT is going to help. I don't have pain just the constant urge to go. Sometimes for real and luckily have a productive pee the other time just uncomfortable urge without really needing to go. I feel like this is the hardest thing to help. Let me know if I'm wrong! I hope I am!
I'm starting to feel a bit of the frequency creep back. I'm wondering if it's because on my period. Ladies let me know if this happens to you as well? I think I need to go back to acupuncture. I think it actually helped.

    Ic

You need to rule out IC once in for all so you can get the proper treatment.
Trying different solutions without knowing the exact cause is just costing you time and money. I suggest you find a good uro and have a hydro/cysto done and take it from there. I hope you do not have IC but at least you can find out for sure.

What kinds of meds are you on? It is different for everyone, but hydroxyzine made the "feeling like you have to pee all the time" feeling go away completely for me... now, the only time I get it is if I accidentally eat something I shouldn't... too many peppermint candies w/red dye does it for me every time.

I did do PT (and just 'graduated!) and, while I did have trigger point massage done, I have never heard of the cold laser therapy. According to cancer.org, this is an experimental treatment? Interesting.

My frequency does go up slightly around my period, although I don't have high frequency by any means. I have heard great things about accupuncture.
      Symtoms started July 2010.
      Severe pelvic floor pain only.

      2 time PT graduate!
In medical remission since August 2011; able to eat and drink anything I want currently.

      IC meds:
200 mg Elmiron in the morning
      100 mg Elmiron @ night
      Macrobid after intercourse

If at first you don't succeed: 07/26/2013!

@LindaMay-Hi, It doesn't really matter to me the label of 'IC'. Even if Dr. Moldwin told me I definitely have it I still would not get the hydro done. I've had a cystoscopy to rule out cancer or other things but am not willing to take the chance of a cysto/hydro making anything worse. You can be diagnosed by symptoms.

@Meresque, I'm on 10mg of elavil and .5mg of klonopin at night. I have an appt. with my uro next month and will bring up the antihistamine. I did some research on cold laser yesterday and it seems to help a lot of people with many different things. Mostly inflammation and healing of wounds. They also use it for cats with IC. Interesting! I'm soooo glad to hear that the hydroxozine helped that feeling for you! I really hope it will help me.

        Take care,
        Rachael

          Rachael,
If Dr Moldwin told you that you have IC, then you have it. You don't absolutely have to have a cysto with hydrostention done to have a diagnosis. Just to save the trouble and confusion for others, I would just say I have it. LOL The one good thing that can come from a hydro is if you have hunner's ulcers they can be lasered off and that will help the pain. Did they do a biopsy? I thought that was how they ruled out cancer.

I would stick with the PT for a bit, I have heard that it will help frequency. Good luck.
