  • Can IC cause fatigue?

I'm trying to decide if I do have IC, if it's causing this fatigue or if it's still from the heat stroke I had in August. Thanks.

ETA: can it cause digestive troubles too? ...hm, maybe I'm sick. Well, let me know what you all think!

I have IC for more then 4 years. YES it has caused me to have debilitating fatigue. Yet I am unsure if it's the IC or the MEDS. I take to help me. My Doctor did a full panel of a blood work-up. I am very low in "B" plus extreamly low in "D". Please talk with your Doctor about his. There can be many serious reasons to have fatigue. Don't take a chance please. See your Doctor ASAP. Hugs, Ziggy

I think by itself it doesn't cause fatigue but chronic pain can cause fatigue and the meds can cause fatigue. Both elavil and hydroxyzine can cause extreme tiredness. Have you discussed this with your doc?

Also, it doesn't cause digestive troubles but many many ICers have IBS as well as IC.

Even though it's well known that pain can cause extreme fatigue, there are also other causes --- and you really need to see your doctor.

          fatigue

Definitely talk with your doc, make sure you are not anemic or vitamin deficient. Sometimes just the lack of a good 8 hours of sleep will kick you. But get checked out. Hopefully it is nothing other than having to pee all night. Good luck, please let everyone know, the more info we get, the better. Jill, wife of Bob

            fatigue

One year after the onset of my first IC symptoms I started feeling extremely tired and even weak on certain days. I did consult a naturopath doctor and he did an extensive blood test that showed very low ferritin and low vitamin D. My iron was normal however my iron's reserve (ferritin) was only at 2 and I was anemic. 2 or 3 weeks after started taking an iron and vitamin D supplement I actually did start feeling much better and energyzed. I am now also taking buffered vitamin C and everything has helped.
IC started in September 2009. In remission in July 2011. Came back in September 2013 after UTI at a stressfull time.
First Treatment - (Trying it currently again)
            Lyrica 50mg at night
            Cystoprotek 3 a day - Prelief
Valium suppositaries 2.5mg (only w.e. to avoid dependency)
Natural Progesteron 100 mg from day 16 to day 25 of cycle
Solgar Gentle Iron 25 mg for low ferritin
Vitamin D 1,000.00 UI a day for low vitamin D
            Ester C 500 mg a day - Probiotics
Physical Therapy for pelvic floor pain - Acupuncture - Yoga
Blood test showed slight allergy to wheat so I did eliminate wheat from my diet for 4 months
