  • It's not IC.

The uro said it's absolutely not IC. He said those 2 mean UTIs tore up my lining badly, and put me on a low-dose abx for the next 6mo to prevent further UTIs from doing more damage. I have cut back on caffeine and am nearly pain-free (the only real pain I've had in a while was Sat., the night after 2 glasses of cherry wine!).

Thanks so much for all of your help here, folks. I didn't know much about this condition, and am thankful I have learned as much as I have here. God bless.

    Hi,
I see you're from the midwest. I am too. I'm wondering if you have any more details about what your urologist said. My urologist said the same thing and I've been so frustrated by wondering if I really have IC or not. I had a really bad UTI in September of last year. Antibiotics cleared it up just fine and I was good until January. Then I tested positive for a UTI that was very stubborn in clearing up. Doctors kept telling me my bladder lining was just really irritated from the infection and would take awhile to heal.. but I'm not so sure. It's been almost two months since my infection seemed to be gone according to tests. My symptoms have tended to go up and down (some days are good, some aren't as good). Do you have that? And why were you put on antibiotics for 6 months? Just as prevention or do you still have an infection? Sorry for all the questions but this is the first time I've seen someone post about being told the same thing I was.

Your doctors most likely are right, if you're like me. My really bad UTIs were in Oct/Nov. It seems that the lining can get really irritated, and I'm not surprised, considering the first UTI landed me in the ER because of the pain (and I didn't know what it was!). Some days are better than other, athough now th egood far outnumber the bad, since I've eliminated citrus and cut back on caffeine.

I was put on abx to prevent infection, so that my lining can heal. My urine is totally clear, no infection.

      HTH!
