  • Painful Bladder Syndrome

I dont know if I am diagnosed but today i saw a specialist
and she wrote on a form - for my GP 'Painful Bladder Syndrome'

I have to go on some antibiotics - new ones. She said there is sometimes a bug that gets under the bladder lining, and that this does not show up on the usual urine tests as an infection.
I am to go on these for 3 months.

I am also being booked in for a cystoscopy which if my symptoms go, I can cancel.

I found out the last time I went to see a specialist was 5 years ago- that is when I had urodynamics test and scans and those showed normal.

I am relieved she put PAINFUL BLADDER SYNDROME down because my GP thinks I have over active bladder, and was discounting my pain and was ignoring me when i said to her its painful not over active. I really get annoyed with some GPs.

I figured I would respond now. I do happen to be a male. OK. I did notice you are not sure you have been diagnosed so far. I would also figure the specialist did put "Painful Bladder Syndrome" as your diagnoses. Of course, I don't know what all the specialist did during the appiontment. By the way, I should guess you do realize that is the same thing as IC. Anyway, you will know whether or not the antibiotics do any good. Oh! I would think that if you are not better within a month that it is not an infection, but I did figure one was not found to begin with. That is gonna be all now.

Painful Bladder Syndrome is another name for interstitial cystitis. In some areas, you will find it referred to as IC/PBS.

I hope you feel better soon.
