I read a pitch for icers elsewhere on this site, a very useful short, convincing message. I'm seeing a new urologist on Thursday and decided to prepare it really well, including writing a pitch to get his attention (a bit long for a pitch, but well). Whatever his first question will be, this will be my answer. Hopefully it will covince him to take the matter serious.
"I will hand you a list with my symptoms, but mostly I'm here because I am in pain. Episodes come and go, but when I am in one, saying that I am in pain is an understatement. The pain is taking me over, leaving room for nothing else.
This disease has a huge impact on my life. I need to call in sick too often, and I cancel appointments with friends. I want to give my employer and friends a good explanation. This thing is causing me to change my habits in many ways, including my sex life, to name a sensational one.
I'm coming to you, because I want to know what is causing this. I want to know if this is going to be a chronic thing for the rest of my life and if there are treatment options. But most of all, I'm here because I can't bear this pain any longer."
After that, I'll hand them a comprehensive list of symptoms, known irritants, and solutions I tried in the past, and share my IC-suspicions.
Any comments are welcome. I'd be curious to hear your stories about grabbing attention at the doctor's office!
