Think I might have IC - advice needed.

2 weeks ago I suddenly started having the urge to pee all the time, but I find it hard to go and only a little comes out. I automatically presumed I had a UTI so I started to drink loads of cranberry juice but it wasn't helping so after a few days I went to see my Doctor and she put me on antibiotics to treat a UTI and also sent my urine sample to the lab to get tested.
5 days later I had finished the antibiotics and the results of my urine test were in - it was clear, no UTI

My Doctor wanted to get another sample tested so I am waiting on that now - I know it will come back clear again though.

I don't think I've had any pain to do with it - just the constant feeling to pee and not being able to.

I was just wondering if anyone else just had those symptoms and what I could do to relieve the discomfort of always feeling like I need to pee.

It's not too annoying at the moment as I am on Summer holidays from college but I can't imagine being able to concentrate and study when I go back in September if my bladder is always feeling full to the max!

    Thanks in advance.

If you do have IC, cranberry juice may be the worst irritant possible for you. Most people with IC will find it causes symptoms to increase rapidly.

Are you seeing a urologist? If your symptoms persist, I think that would be a good idea.

Thank you for the reply Donna

I stopped drinking the cranberry juice a few days ago - it wasn't helping and it tasted so bad!

I will see what happens with my Doctor next week - with the results of my urine test and what she thinks.

I'll probably end up going to a urologist.

          Hi,

It's been 3 weeks now and I still need to pee all the time but for the past few days I have been able to pee whereas before it was very difficult.

I am waiting on the results of another test to come back - I hope I find out what I have soon and that it can be treated some how!
          I hope you do too!
