    Urethral inflammation

    Hello everyone!

    Upon self examination I discovered that I have some ulceration/inflammation in the opening of my urethra. Is this common in IC? I do get some burning on urination but not very often since I started the IC diet. My frequency is 5-7 times a day and I do sometimes feel bladder pressure. Also, just before needing to urinate I feel it in the tip of my urethra. It's annoying! I guess my question is, is it common to have an ulcerated/inflamed urethra with IC? Thanks for your input!

    It can be. Sometimes something as common as scented toilet tissue can be a problem with frequent urination. You might want to try using a spray bottle to rinse the area after you go --- and be sure to blot with the tissue --- don't wipe the urethra.

      Thanks for your reply Donna. When at home I always rinse with water. I changed my toilet paper months ago and try to take some with me whenever I go out. I just can't find any info on line about ulcerated/inflamed urethra in IC. Would love to hear from anyone that has had this and IC.
