  • Do you have this weird symptom?

    Hi,

I have had IC for almost 10 years. A few years ago, I started to have this new symptom. After I had the bowel movement, I usually had the urge to go in less an hour. And the frequency might last around half day. Besides, I had bladder spasm after the bowel movement. Sometimes it was more like pelvic pain or muscle spasm.

I described this to both my uro and gyno. They thought I pushed too much when having bowel movement. But sometimes even I didn't have to push, I still had pain on my right bladder after bowel movement. Do you have the similar problem?
    Thanks, Peiti.

For me that's part of how I flare. Once I go, I can be right back in the bathroom every five minutes peeing. And that starts the flare up.
It can last all day and be gone that night.
You might be pushing too much. But if you're not, I understand. Cause I don't use any pressure at all.
It really doesn't make sense to me either. I just try to drink extra water and let it run its course.
        Hope you feel better!

Hi, I just saw a Berman & Berman show last night....it had a woman who had had 2 children and complained of incontinance and a larger vagina. Well, the Dr. who did the procedure says that a lot of women, after having children, experience their bladder dropping and pushing on the vagina and the bowel also can do this. She could actually fix these problems.... It may be something to have checked out. Maybe they can do an ultrasound and see if that may be the problem? Just a thought.

after I go a number 2 I pee about every few minutes after for about 15 to a half hour,
but I don't get bladder spasm,

I have that same problem. I read somewhere it is a common problem with IC. I will have to find the article and send it to you.

I get it too... not every time, but about half the time after #2 I pee a bunch of times after. In addition I have the opposite problem too sometimes -- if I've just peed a bunch of times in a row and have had some bladder spasms when I am flaring, sometimes I suddenly feel like I have to go #2 even though I swear I haven't been pushing hard at all.

                  *shrug*

I'm no expert, but often I suspect it probably has to do with all of the inflammation in the area... all of the chemicals your body releases spread around the whole pelvic area, including both bladder and rectum, and the nerves probably get confused. ????? Don't know... that's just how I explain it to myself so I don't freak out...

This is a wonderful thread. It is so comforting to read other women's stories, thus validating that I am not alone in my suffering..

Thanks for the heartfelt posts. Sometimes, I feel I am all alone in this IC diagnosis:*(

I also have had this problem. Everytime i go #2 i go pee over and over for the next hour or so. luckily , unless i am having a bad day anyway it usually subsides after a couple of hours. I just figured it was a part of having IC. But i also have IBS too so it could be from having both of these problems. I wish there was something i could say that would make it better but its just something else to deal with. Sometimes stool softners help me, that way there is less strain. I dont know what kind of medication you are on but mine cause lots of constipation . so taking stool softners every once in a while have helped me alot. I hope something i have said will help in some small way if nothing else just to know you are not alone.
