Thanks for some of the ideas to try. I use heat but that for the most part is all that I have tried. I usually sleep flat on my back, I am not comfortable for long on my sides. So I also have to make sure to flip our mattress every few months, that makes a difference too if my low back hurts. I know this flare right now is part stress. I always get stressed before Dr. appt.s and yesterday was the mammogram and tomorrow is my pap, so get me through that and hopefully my bladder will settle down.

I get low back pain too. Mine is usually worse on my right. That is where I get kidney infections. The heating pad really helps me. Hot baths help too. Good luck!

Therma care makes a self-heating product that is big enough to wrap around your back and it velcros in front. I use these when I'm really bad and I have to be out of the house. They stay warm all day. I sometimes have a stick on one on the inside front of my clothes and wrap one around my back. It's gotten me through the days when I had to work dispite my pain. I use a heating pad at home and I got a heat/masager mat for Christmas that I lay on in the recliner.

I use the pillow between my legs too but lately I haven't been able to lay on my side because the hips hurt too bad. I also lay on my back and put the pillow under my knees which takes the pressure off the low back too. I've had a really difficult time riding in the car for 45 min. to and from the dr. every day. I started reclining the seat and using a heating seat that plugs into the lighter. It has helped the car rides a bit but it still buts pressure on the low back.

I get pain in my low back and where my body sits on my legs which is the pelvic muscles. banghead The pain travels down the inside and outside of my legs when its bad. I too have gone to PT and have learned a lot of stretches and massages that help. Brat I've tried the one you describe and it really stretches out those muscles and releases tention. Another one that my therapist showed me last week was helpful too. Lie on your back and bend your knees and hug them. My therapist applys just a little bit of pressure, she says she's just barely touching the area, on my hip which releases the tension further in my hip area. I have shown my fiance how to do this to help me. There has been so much that I have learned from my therapist. I would reccomend everyone with pelvic floor, back, and hip tension should get a referral. I have more self-help tools that I can use for flares to help me manage the pain. I also use an excercise balance ball to sit on and it helps me do gentle stretching. I'm thinking of getting one to sit on at work.

Another type therapy that she does that helps is a gentle movement which is slow and controlled and doesn't hurt. It's different types of movement depending on the area but its called mya facial release. She put her hands under me on my tail bone and I breathed deeply and relaxed my body into her hands while she gently manipulated my pelvic area. I felt sooo much better when she finished! She has really been a god send and I'm really dissapointed that she's moving. I'll definitley be looking for another therapist that specializes in womens health. I hope some of this will help you.

    Rachel hi

Me too! Pillow between the legs. Flaring sometimes just makes the back ache, sometimes even my legs. *sigh* Kathi blah

I had low nagging back pain all the time--phys ther told me to use a body pillow at night. I sleep with it between my legs (laying on my side) and wrap my arms around it. Must say, my back pain went away almost immediately.

I live with low back pain.. I think I live in a flare too gggggrrrrr..... ok try this.... lay on your side either one, I perfer right side.. one side will feel better then the other keep the bottom leg straight and bend top leg at the knee (where else huh? lol) and bring towards your chest like your sitting no further, and hold for 5 sec, it releases some pain and stretches at the same time.. learned that in pt.. last week..

    Back Pain ?

For those of you who get back pain as one of your IC symptoms where do you get the pain in your back at? I have been flaring a bit lately and boy do I get the low back pain. Just curious, I don't have the pain unless I have a flare. Thanks everyone.
