I sometimes get groin pain when I am flaring. I don't get it every time, but when I do it usually starts with some stabbing pains in my urethra, like someone is trying to put a knitting needle up there, and then progresses to a generalized ache. It is very uncomfortable. Sometimes, sitting in a hot bath helps me with that. My husband also helps sometimes by putting his warm hands very very gently over my crotch.
I hope you feel better soon grouphug grouphug

*Diagnosed with severe IC in 2004
*Also diagnosed with PFD, fibromyalgia, chronic myofascial pain, IBS, migraines, allergies/asthma, dermatographism
*Kept trying a million different treatments for all these things until I found what works, and I am doing okay these days with the help of a cocktail of medications and the InterStim, which was first placed in 2007. [I have had 2 revisions - one in 2010 when my battery died and had to be replaced, and one complete replacement (lead and generator) in 2012 after a fall on my stairs caused my lead to move.] *Current meds include Atarax (50mg at night), Lyrica (150mg twice a day), Xanax (0.5mg at night and as needed), Zanaflex (4mg at night), hydrocodone (10/325, every 6 hours as needed), Advair, Nasonex, Singulair (10mg at night), oral contraceptives, home instills containing Elmiron and Marcaine (as often as I need to do them).

You hit the nail on the head thats exactly how it feels ! I take bath because of my uti's ! I can but DOC suggests I dont! So I am gonna have to get my husband and see if that helps !
Thanks for advice

I almost always have groin pain and have since I was a child...that's why I believe that I've had IC all of my life~

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow".
Yes, me too. Groin pain is the pits. I also have had groin pain since I was 4 years old (I'm 52 now). I had an emergency appendectomy at 4 years where my appendix broke before they got me into surgery. Needless to say, it was touch and go. But I am convinced (no one has ever told me this) that this caused my IC, and that I've suffered with it ever since. Wish I didn't have to say suffer, but I did. I've had several surgeries because of pelvic pain, have been treated for upteen million bladder infections (with no infection present), wet the bed, wet my pants, cried in agony from bladder spasms and pain, and oh yes, been punished for wetting and complaining too much. cussing IC's great. Thank goodness they finally have a diagnosis. But my family is slow to believe still. I'm the family hypochondriac. Thanks for being here. Cheers! jester

I have AWFUL groin pain, that is actually one of my biggest complaints with IC. I am going to my Urologist on Tuesday to have Vulvodynia ruled out, you might want to do the same thing. I have read that taking a bath with Aveeno helps, but since I am new to IC I haven't tried it yet, but plan to this weekend. I haven't getting help from my husband, I just might try that! wink Hope you get to feeling better soon! angel

History of IC, Vulvodynia, Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, Polycystic Ovaries, and Cyst's on my Spine.
Update as of 6/27/07- Endo, Adenomyosis & Polycystic Ovaries are gone because I had a Hysterectomy in May of 2005! Still battling IC and what was thought to be Vulvodynia, now thought to be PNE.
Meds: Paxil 40 for IC, Clonazepam 1 for Restless Leg Syndrome, Seroquel 100 for Bipolar, and pain pills as needed.
Very inresting...with all that is wrong with me I never considered it being because of IC. I have groin pain right at the scar of my left hernia surgery.....bath as fixer is out of the question for me. Oh well, still good to know others think it is there IC....although..makes little sense why left side would be worse me...hmmm. May Endo made things tighter over there.

Hello, and in answer to your question, I also get groin pain, I know I had some adhesions removed internally in my right groin, when I had my surgeries. I usually sit with a heating pad on my right side every evening and it does help, somewhat. I still think it is connected somehow to IC, I never had before I was diagnosed with IC. Hugs Iris.
