  • Wierd buzzing feeling in my privates...any idea why?

Ok...this is going to sound really strange and I'm hoping that I'm not losing my mind. But the past two weeks (about two weeks into a flare) I started having a wierd buzzing feeling in my public area. It's intermittent, and occurs mainly in the front-- by my public bone. It's not painful...just a really mild buzzing feeling that lasts for a few seconds.

My only real theory is that I've was falling asleep with the heating pad on that area and I might of freaked out some of my nerves.

Anyone else have any ideas? or by chance know what I'm talking about?

Yes, I understand. I get that sometimes. It does feel odd. For me, I don't think it has anything to do with IC. I think it is a nerve misfiring.

Could it be a muscle spasm?

Oh god I have this too! The is part of my vulvodyina and it drives me crazy. It comes and goes and even though its not painful its just really annoying and strange. I agree its just down to nerves and for some reason when we are flaring it also agrevates the nerves which supply the genitals and pubic area.

My urologist said this is common and a lot of his patients have desribed similar feelings/symptoms.
As well as this buzzing feeling I also have a throbbing aching sensation and paresthesia which is horrible.
You are not alone and I am sure it will disapear soon!

Thanks everyone. It does make sense that my nerves in that area were somehow aggrivated by this most recent flare. KJD, thanks for sharing the info. from your urologist. It does make me feel better.

So that's what the nerve thing was!

I experienced a very similar feeling when pregnant with both my boys at the beginning of the 2nd trimester. I'd wake up in the morning and a nerve right on top of my pubic bone would sting and hurt like crazy. It was almost like someone was sticking a needle into a nerve there and literally twisting it around. The pain only subsided after I got up and walked around for about 30 minutes. Now I know what to call it (although I'll never be pregnant again!). Ouch!
