Hey there... A yeast infection can feel like that... I always had the type that caused severe itching and discharge. But, about a year ago. I had pain like that without the itching and discharge and it was actually a yeast infection. A friend of mine says she always has the pain type instead of the itching. I feel for you. Try some over the counter cream for yeast infections.
I also have vulvar vestibulitus and it causes pain like that from time to time so don't rule out that possibility. But with the V.V. I had more burning than just pain... Hope this helps. You are in my prayers.. God Bless

I would venture to say it is vulvodynia brought on by IC. I was actually diagnosed with vulvodynia first. When I flared up this week, the pain rapidly moved to my vulva, mostly around the vaginal opening, or the vestibule. My pain is an acute awareness that I have that part of my body, when most of the time, you don't realize it is there. I also have burning and sometimes stabbing or shooting pains, kind of like what I think a hot knife going the vagina would feel like. And, of course, sex or any sexual touching can be excruciating.

If you have never had a yeast infection, go to the gyno. Do not use over the counter yeast cream unless you know it is a yeast infection. If you use the cream, and it is not an infection, you will be sloughing off the lining of your vagina for no reason. I liken that to taking antibiotics for no reason. These things have side effects and after effects that can be undesirable.

There are also other vaginal infections that are not yeast that can have similar symptoms. Call the gyno and demand to be seen today while you are symptomatic. Do not let them convince you it can wait. It cannot, esp. since you have IC and it could be related.

Discharge is normal if it is normal for you. If it looks different OR smells different and it is a lot more than normal, see your doctor.

This type of thing is not something you can diagnose by looking at discharge, not even a doctor can do that, nor should they.

See my signature line. I've had innumerable yeast infections, and that is why I am on long-term Diflucan. The normal dose of Diflucan is 150 mg, one pill, to clear up a yeast infection. I take 200mg every other day.

Please see your doctor and do not wait. If it is yeast, you may be in so much pain in a few days you might not know what to do. It is better to know now.

I think it is normal to be moist but I don't think you should be discharging on a daily basis. I would see the gyn. Diflucan is excellent prescribed pill that is awesome for yeast infections. Does your discharge smell or is it odd in color? Don't feel embarassed to talk about this stuff.... We need other women sharing so that we can get some answers!!!! :-) hang in there.... God Bless

I have had both vulvodynia and yeast infections.. Here's how I tell the difference.

The vulvodynia makes sitting very uncomfortable, my urine feels hot as I'm peeing and, most of all, I just can't tolerate wearing anything tight. There's no discharge and I'm usually not even red. It can easily occur if I wear a pair of underwear washed in Cheer or Tide.

A yeast infection, for me, has a much sharper pain... especially the perineum (between the vagina and the rectum). I usually don't have much of a discharge... certainly never the cottage cheese like curds people have described. It's more extreme pain and discomfort focused in the perineal area.

                  Weird, but that's just me!

I have yeast infections about 4 a year. I get pain in my outer labia-the lips you see on the outside. I would definatley describe it as bruised feeling. I also have burning around the vaginal opening and my inner labia-the inside parts that are a little version of the outer I don;t have vulavodonia (sp) or vestibules. If you do have a yeast infection you will get better real fast on the difulcan-If I take it in the morning I feel better by night. They will tell you it can take a few days before you notice anything. Your gyn will be more than happy to give you this. Also in the mean time, try not wearing underware which can create a moist environment for the yeast. Also keep yourself clean around your vagina and rinse with warm water every time you go pee(which is alot im sure ) keep a cup my the toilet and fill it up then pour it over when your still on the toilet. This is sooooooooo soothing for me especially when I have swelling and redness. Also try to dry off real well when you get out of the shower, and when you rinse. Apparently, from what I heard, its actually the discharge that is irratating to the outside around the vagina. It sure helps take the edge off until I get to the gyn. I hope some of these ideas help you get through, they sure help me!

Hmmm the pain is gone....down under. However I have alot of discharge. I know its gross but it is...certainly never the cottage cheese like curds people have described. It's more watery and whiteish. I guess I should go to the obgyn and talk to them. I know discharge is normal but not as much as I have! I dont think it's a yeast infection either. I'm confused. lol

Watery discharge could indicate an early Bacterial Vaginosis
