My flares can last anywhere from about 3 days to several weeks. Right now I am in one worst flares ever. I have been flaring about 6 weeks. This one started with a uti. But the infection cleared about 3 weeks ago. Last week I had a cysto/hydro and found out that my hunner's ulcers had come back. I am going them lasered off next Friday.

I don't know...I actually appreciate the word flare. My IC comes and goes, so I do have flare ups. However, I can NEVER predict how long they will last. Some last a day, others have lasted months and months and months. That is the most frustrating part of this disease...no one really knows the answers.

Hi Guys,
I HATE the word flare!!!
IC flares are felt differently by each person. Some of mine can last as little as a week or as long as 4 months! One good thing to do is to backtrack to see what may have set off the flare. Most times you can see a pattern:a food, sex, etc....
Hang in there and remember to check with your uro for meds, instills, whatever - things that can make the flare more bearable.
Have a nice weekend - Beth
PS GRIFFS - LOVE the new words to shake your booty !!!!!!!!!!

I think it really varies from person to person and it can vary for a person depending on what is causing the flare. My period can make me flare pretty much the whole time I have it. A food related flare may last a little less time. Stress can bring on nasty flares for me that can last awhile.

Unfortunately, I had a flare that lasted 4 months straight. Then, it ceased for 1 1/2 months only to start bugging me again. My 3rd urologist said my bladder looks better through the in office cystoscopy he did, but I am still having burning. Yikes.

How long do flares last?
I was wondering what is the average time a flare lasts for everyone. This is my first flare and I've been in and out of pain and frequency for 2 weeks now. I go see a different Urologist tomorrow because my first one kind of brushed me off, telling me I had a fibroid and he'll see me in 6 months. Turns out the gyno didn't find a fibroid and says I have endometriosis but that's it. I'm in pain and frustrated, I've been following the diet religiously but I'm not getting much relief. I'm currently taking prelief, urelle and ultram.Tags: None
