  • Periods, better or worse?

I just got my period today and I feel a little better today. Yesterday I was a mess! Pain and urgency all day. Today I hardly feel anything. Is this common for everyone? I thought I'd be worse today on my first day of my period.

I'm much worse with my period. That's just me. I've read that it can go either way but it seems that people do notice a difference during their period weather it's better or worse.

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

I sometimes have problems right before my period. If not before then my first day of the period. The pain is so bad i just lay with a heating pad. you should try a heating pad next time and see if it helps you.

My first year with IC and vulvodynia, the week before my period was pure torture. That doesn't happen much or nearly as bad now, and once I get my period, my symptoms have always calmed down by the end of the first day, and then I get my best relief during my period and for a few days afterwards.

That was one of my 1st IC symptoms...3/4 days before my pd I'd feel like a had a raging UTI. Then it would calm slightly with my pd. After a couple years I still did the 3/4 days before--but then I started caring that pain into my pd along with horrible cramps. I went on birth control for about 1 1/2 yrs and that helped. Took care of the problem Apr 3...had a hysterectomy

I am really bad during my period, The first 2-3 days I am ok, then bam, I have so much pain, I have to take vicodin. The pain also continues when my period is over with for about a week to 10 days.

I am glad I am not alone.

              me too

I always seem to have severe frequency/urgency right before my period and during the first two or three days. I find that drinking more water and decreasing my physical activity helps a great deal - not to mention my meds.
