  • Pelvic pressure!is this part of ic pain?

Hi,Have any of you ladies out there ever had a horrible vaginal/perineal/rectum type of pressure or heaviness? It burns a little too.My IC flare hit me hard.I've never had this vaginal pressure before except around my period. Now, it's not only the vaginal area pressure but the perineal and rectal areas as well and does not want to go away.It feels like a basketball is trying to come out(sorry!).My burning and frequency of urination is worse and that is when all this pressure began. My urethra burns and it burns to sit down.Is this just part of IC pain?My bladder is sometimes tender but this is not in the bladder/stomach region but"down there."I do not know how else to describe it.If you have ever experienced this,I would like to hear from you.

I haven't experienced this but I wanted to respond to your question. Others here have symptoms like those. Have you been evaluated for PFD? Thats what it sounds like. Alot of ICers have both and physical therapy is often very helpful.

Thank you so much Cindi for responding.I feel better in knowing that I am not alone in this.Although, I do not want to see other people suffering either.I guess it is comforting knowing that we can support eachother.
      Thank you again!

I have similar pain to what your describing. I have found that when I get pain like that it is because I have to have a bowel movement, or I am constipated. I get fullness in that whole area and also pressure and pain. It is usually relieved by going to the bathroom. If that is not the case for you.. you can try something warm/cold depending on what might help and also physical therapy. PT has helped me so much and I've only went for 4 weeks all together. I still have 12 more weeks left and I'm hopeful I will continue to feel better.

          Hi Gina,

My pain/pressure is starting to ease up a bit.I know what type of pressure you are describing but mine has become constant in that entire region from front to back.It feels like something heavy is trying to push out.

I hope you continue to improve.

It could be something else going on. I know when my IBS flares up I get pains like that also. Its so hard to distingush what is actually causing it. I would try and schedual an apt with your dr to talk to them about what is going on. If you cant get in you can always call the office and leave a msg with the nurse and they might be able to help.

You could also try sleeping with a pillow between your legs
            Hope you feel better

I have heard other's describe that sensation. I have PFD and I don't have that symptom, as we are all different it is hard to know. If this is a new symptom that you have never experienced I would advise you to call your Dr and let them know what is going on. They might want you to come in for an exam.

Good luck to you, I hope you feel better soon,

I get this and I hate it. I call it the golf ball syndrome. I feel like an imaginary golf ball is in there pushing on me. Vaginal valium helps sometimes but relief does not last forever.
