  • The pressure you feel

I'm asking this because I see so many descriptions of what other people feel but haven't seen any that match me. This is in regards to the pressure...when I'm having a bad day like today if I lean against the counter I feel this incredible ....hard to think of the right word, but pressure definitely in my bladder, as if I have to go pee really bad, but know that I don't. The same happens when I'm having a flare or an unhappy bladder day as I like to refer to it and I sit down, its almost painful but not, just that intense feeling like I really better go, though I know if I go there won't be much there.
The feeling mostly disappears after I go to the bathroom until my bladder starts filling up again.
Is this what any of you feel?

    Pressure

    Hi Cindi,

I am having a "bad bladder" day as well...or the past few days. I feel exactly how you describe when it comes to pressure. I am trying to pinpoint exactly when it got bad. Last night was terrible. Its the same heaviness, pressure that I felt months ago when I was first diagnosed. I did have a hard work out yesterday so wonder if that is what did it. It's been really difficult for me to completely stay on the diet, but I have for the most part (had one glass chardonnay wine w/ dinner on Friday). My sleep has been the most affected. I really hate that I can't sleep at night without taking something. Last night I took an extra strength 5 mg melatonin and still couldn't sleep. Then I had two percosets and I finally fell asleep around 6 am - but now my day is shot. It's just so frustrating. Do you or anyone have any ideas what helps when the deep pressure starts? What can I do to help me sleep? Also, Cindi..have you found that cystoprotek helps you? I was thinkking of trying it. Right now I take vesicare, Elmiron (200 mg/day), and oxybutin and hydroxine as needed. My biggest issue is that when I take pills that make me lethargic I have a sleep hangover the whole next day and I'm up at 6 am and sometimes I don't get home til 9 pm. I hope you are feeling better Cindi, and if you have any advice for me please let me know.

    Holding out hope,
    Whitney

Hi Whitney, I honestly don't know if cystoprotek helps....I don't think I am any different then I was a year ago but I keep taking it. I see my urogyne today and think I will start elmiron if ok with him. I will prob keep taking the cystoprotek too.
I hate that deep pressure feeling, haven't had that one in awhile, its like I want to hold my pelvis up, even though nothing is "falling" down there, but thats how it feels. I feel more tenderness then anything right now. I need to mention that to him today, I think he thinks its all about the frequency and its not; for alot of my day its the tenderness. If that went away the frequency would improve. I did have some wine fri and Sat night but unless its a delayed reaction wine doesn't bother me when I drink it with 2 prelief. I also had horseradish crusted steak It was so good but now I'm paying for it.
I actually sleep ok, sometimes I have some insomnia but its not due to my bladder. When I lay down the pressure goes away for me, I don't know what that means.
      Hope you feel better.

Briza - Thats a good way to put it, the ever present awareness that I have a bladder. Once in a while I'll have a day that is gone and then I'll go up to 4 hours in between. I honestly don't know what makes one day good and another not though.

When I saw my doc yesterday he asked me to point to where I feel it, so I touched that area in about 2.5 inches below my belly button and he said thats where all his IC patients point to. It can also cause pain that moves outward and makes it more difficult to diagnose but for the most part he said we all point to the same spot. If I lean against a counter then its worse and I can feel it down to my urethra.

Last night when I went to bed I did have some throbbing going on which I never have had before. I started elmiron but I'm sure it was just a coincidence. I did some kegels while lying to make it go away, it was annoying.
