  • So Freaking Tired of IC

I am so tired of IC, I have been in pain on and off now more on for 3 weeks or more now. I just can't take it anymore. I have done my installs. My valium suspos. I get in the bath for relief. My house is a mess, my legs hurt can't sit, can't stand only relief is if I lay down. I have a 8 yro child I love with all of my heart I can't be in the bed all the time. My husband just don't understand. He treats his pain different he goes on well, he doesn't understand IC pain. I have pelvic floor disfunction, hurts like crap. It is acting up too. I can't hardly walk. I am seeing a counsler for other reasons. Under alot of stress and I know that STRESS takes a toll on my bladder. I am going to my GOD SEND DOCTOR. DR. EVANS. I just wonder what he will say I just want some relief. I have almost quit drinking soda pop. I totally went off of MT. Dew. I have drank a 16 oz Pepsi in 3 days and still am not finished. So I am working on it. I have to have some type of Caffinee or I will get a Migriane so I am S.O.L.ed either way. I am depressed, I am just at my witts end.

Two ounces of Pepsi would put me in a severe flare! It may be difficult to stop drinking it, but believe me it's well worth it.

I know it can seem like life without caffeine is difficult, but it can be done.

I can't have ANY soda whatsoever. Something about the carbonation really bothers me. Have you thought of taking low dose elavil to prevent your migraines? then maybe you could give up the pepsi? Just a thought.

I am trying my best"est" to come off of soda pop. Any suggestions?? I do take Elavil. I guess I am gonna have to quit cold turkey and make the most of it. OOOO but i dread the headache. I am gonna try a cup of coffee a day and see how that goes.

        Thank you for the replies.

Sometimes the headache seems to suggest that you have reduced your sugar consumption, you can try eating fruit instead.

How long have you had IC? A couple suggestions I can offer. My doc gave me Elavil and gave me 10 mg tabs and said to take it up to a dose I feel comfortable with. So like try 10 mg for a couple days, then 20mg, then 30 etc. He said I could go up to 90. I am taking 50 mg. I have about 3-4 A&W root beer a week as I have read root beer is the best soda to try. For caffeine, I have 1 or 2 non-fat vanilla latte. I have found that doesn't bother me as bad as coffee. It is milk based and just has a shot of caffeine in it. I usually go get one at Mc Donalds after I take the kids to school. There's also (I think its Hill's Brothers) skinny latte that you can make at home. I don't recommend more than 1 or 2. If you have 3 you might as well have had coffee. This is not part of the IC diet but I, too, can not live without any caffeine and have found this to be least irritating. I even tried acid-free coffee~terrible. Oh also, I take 3 Prelief before I have the latte. Prelief takes some of the acid out. I get it from Walgreens but other stores sell it. Wal-Mart doesn't. I had to look up a list of stores that sell it or call around. Hope this helps.
