  • Frequency

I went to the uro/gyno last week and got a possible diagnosis of IC. I am getting tested at the end of the month to confirm. The only symptom I am really having is frequency and it's not like I have to go every 10 minutes, maybe every hour and I am drinking a good amount of water. I don't have any burning when I urinate and I don't have bloating or cramping. I do sometimes feel a weird tinge down there.

My uro/gyno did a urine culture and my urine came back clean. The culture showed some bacteria, but she said that it's not enough to cause frequency and didn't give me an antibotic. I'm not in a crazy amount of pain (i'm so sorry that many of you are). I guess my question is, can IC only cause frequency? It is feasible that this is my only symptom? Thanks for reading and good luck to all of you.

    Thanks,
    Amy

    Hi Amy,

Yes, frequency can be an only symptom of IC but it can also be an only symptom of overactive bladder so its good you're gonna see someone to figure it out. Frequency was my only symptom for years. It has progressed beyond that in the last 10 years or so to frequency and discomfort which feels better after I go. There are varying levels of pain with IC.

What test will you be having done?
    Cindi

Gelnique for frequency/urgency - works great
    Macrobid after sex
    Prilosec, continuous birth control pills
    synthroid .088mg, mucinex-d, restasis

Supplements: Desert Harvest Aloe vera, Cysta-q, prelief, magnesium and calcium, Vit D, flaxseed oil

Diag Mild IC Jan 11 but have had symptoms for 25 years. Also have GERD, TMJ, IBS-C, chronic dry eye syndrome, hashimotos thyroiditis, non-allergic rhinitis.

Unfortunately, only frequency can be a sympton of IC.

I have no pain but I do have frequency. I am now taking Vistaril (generic) and Cystoprotek and am doing pretty good. I do have some days of flares and frequency returns to full force but I also have many good days.

I am sure your urologist will get you started on some sort of regimen if you are diagnosed with IC.

Thanks for your answers! I am getting a sensitivity test on March 28 and a cystoscopy on April 12. For now I am just trying to take it easy and not stress about it, which is easier said then done. I am also trying to follow the IC diet as best as I can, which seems to be helping a bit.

hello. For about two years frecquency was my only symptom . It was like every hour and a half . Than every hour ...every 40 minutes ...and now constantly . But I think if you begin treatment right now and change your diet there is a big chance your IC will not progress and you will be free from this symptoms. Wish you all the best !
