There are many ways to relax the pelvic floor. PT is the standard, along with PT most people recommed either low dose valium (talking 2 mg) or valium suppositories (which work great for me) sometimes a regular muscle relaxer works just as well, but many cause drowsiness. Also, one of my favorites is a long hot bath! I like to read in my tubby, turn some music on and I even light candles. The more often you can do this the better. It is also amazing for a flare. It really relaxes the whole boy and is wonderful right before bed... and no drugs involved. That would be my best recommendation. Good luck to you

Talk to your Dr there are several things that can help with tight pelvic floor muscles. Physical therapy can be great and many use valium suppositories to help as well. Be sure to let your DR know that you are having problems so he/she can evaluate you for PFD.

Soaking in a warm bath a few times a day can help in the meantime.

Physical therapy would also be my suggestion. You can try techniques in books like "Heal Pelvic Pain" too.

I have PFD. My muscles are very tight and I see PT for this. I usually lay down in the bed and put a pillow under my knees. Then I relax those muscles like I am going to pee. I massage my abdomen in counter clockwise circles from the lower right side up, over and down the left side. This is what they have instructed me to do. I also have downloaded relaxation CD's to help with breathing too while I do this. Hope you get some relief soon. God Bless.

    tight pelvic muscles

Does anyone know how to relax the pelvic muscles? I can feel the tense muscles in this area, especially at night, but I am having a difficult time relaxing them. The area directly over my pelvic bone feels tense, and is tender to the touch. I am on VesiCare, but I swear the tight pelvic muscles bring on the urge to pee.

Can anyone help? It is ok during the day, but at night, it is hard to relax.

    Thanks!
