  • Vaginal Inflammation anyone?

    Hello,
I have just been diagnoised with IC and had my first instillation which was very painful and I'm still having problems peeing ever since I had it. One thing that has been a constant with me is I'm so inflammed and swollen on the outside AND inside of my vagina. Anyone eles have this? I can't have sex with my husband and can hardly stand for him to touch me down there. When I had my last pap smear it was unbelievably painful. (I have NEVER had a painful pap my whole life). I'm a mess. I hate this so much. I'm so uncomfortable and feel so sad that I can't be intimate with my husband. He is so wonderful and supportive about all this but I feel so very sorry for him. (for us).
Hi my name is Lynn. I am a 57 year old woman. I have been dealing with this IC, PFD, Vulvadynia or whatever it is for over 7 years now!! Burning, painful intercourse, painful bladder and problems peeing. It literally came on over night!
I have Fibromyalgia, Reactive Arthritis, Vulvadynia, IC, PFD

Tried but did not help: Physcial Therapy, Bladder Instillations, Cystosopy was normal, acupuncture. Prescriptions: Pyridium, Hydroxyzine, Amitriptyline, Ditropan, Elmiron, Lexapro, Effexor, Lyrica, Nuerontin. Cystoprotek, Vaginal Suppositories made from compounding pharmacy (valium 5mg , Baclofen 5mg, Diphenhyramine 5mg), Osphena. Hormone therapy. Bio Identical, pills, creams. Desert Harvest Aloe Vera.

Are you on any treatments/medications for your IC? Following an IC diet? I know it can seem daunting, but most of us do find treatment options that work and most of us do feel better with treatment/diet.

    Sending gentle hugs,
    Donna

      Hi Donna,

I was just diagnoised with IC and Vulvadynia but I diagnoised myself months ago and completely changed my diet. Also, started Cystoprotek at that time. I do notice I'm worse if I eat anything high in acid so I try to stay away from thoes foods and take Prelief when needed. My doctor and I are just beginning my treatment to find out what will work for me to give me some relief. He wants to try Instillations first then go from there. I get scared sometimes that maybe it's not IC and something else. I wonder if my uretha is blocked or I have some kind of cancer (still waiting for my pap smear results). My doctor is a Uro/Gyn and specializes in IC. So I know I'm in good hands. It's weird how this all came on for me. I just woke up one day with itching and sex started to hurt....then it turned into all this.

Thank you for replying to my post.

Thanks, SherriB. I will ask my doctor about Hydroxyzine.
