    Hydrodistension

I had an ultra sound where they inserted water into the bladder through a catherter. I have been having pain ever since. Could this have caused this flare?

    Unfortunately everyone is different.

I get this type of pain, for a long time I was in this type of pain all the time.

Now with lots of work on diet, and trying different meds I am in pain everyday still, but I can manage it.

I had not had a bad flare for quite awhile and bang out of the blue I had a really bad flare a few weeks ago, I spent the whole week in bed and I am still dealing with the aftermath of it, things just snowballed on me.

Having said that the last hydro I had put me in a really bad flare for 3 weeks, I was beginning to feel it was never going to end but it did slowly get better.

Lots of times I have had my urine dipped and told no infection and then I will be called a few days later after it was cultured that it was positive for infection.

Also lots of people with IC feel the effects bacteria at a much lower level than a person with a normal bladder.

So this could be any of the above or any combo of the above, if it doesn't improve soon I would ask to be retested for a UTI and ask for it to be sent out to be cultured.

Hope this helps you in some way MG

    Hope,
My IC is that painful. I was diagnosed in 2003, but was told I most likely have had it since was a teenager. My biggest issues are that I have incredible pain and the frequency. Pain that just doesn't seem to ever stop. There are days that I can get up and around and do a little bit of stuff and then there are days that I can only get up and go as far as the couch.
I am so sorry that you are having so much pain.

    Donna,

Yes, they checked for infection when I followed up w/ my urologist on Monday for the severe pain and I did not have one. I am not sure how much she stretched my bladder but she did it the same as all the other times.

Is it normal for IC pain to be this bad?

    Warm hugs,
    Donna

    Extreme PAIN...is it IC?

    Hi All,

I had my 8th hydrodistintion on a Tuesday. On Thursday I was in so much pain in my groin area and lower back (so basically my bladder) that I though it was a kidney stone stuck. I went to the ER and a CT scan showed no stone. I followed up w/ my urologist on Monday and she side my IC symptoms are likely progressing. For 4 days I couldn't get out of bed and had to heavily medicate and use heating pads. I just cried all day. It's now 7 days later. I am still in pain but can move about. Is IC really this much pain? I've had IC for 2 years but never had pain like this. Or does any one think the hydro caused the pain, even though the other 7 didn't bother me this way?
