Tonight the feeling of having to urinate is really bad. It is giving me bad anxiety, I just feel on edge like I'm about to have a nervous breakdown. This feeling is very hard to describe it's a feeling of having to urinate although it is slightly different. Does anybody know what I'm talking about? Besides this symptom there is another symptom I have noticed. My perineum is tender to the touch. Could that have anything to do with the constant urge to urinate?

Hi, solideogloria ~ I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time tonight. I think I know the feelings you're talking about. It could be that your bladder is very irritated. I saw that you didn't get too good a response from your doctor. Please consider looking for someone else who listens and is understanding of what you're going through. I was lucky and found my fantastic doc the 2nd time trying. These can be such frustrating feelings and like you said, change your life dramatically to the point of feeling like it's ruined, but......don't give up!
I know in the beginning of my symptoms the word "bladder" was in my vocabulary constantly 24/7 and the anxiety was totally out of control. It wasn't until I got onto a good treatment plan that the symptoms quieted down, my emotions calmed and I began to see a somewhat "normal" life once again.
I usually use my rice bag heated in the microwave to help with the tenderness I think you're talking about. Maybe you could try that. I'm sure you'll get many suggestions from others as well, sharing what works for them.
Please don't give up. Most of us here have felt the same hopelessness but usually can find some help. It may not be a quick fix....in fact it's trial and error for many of us, but it's truly worth trying.
Blessings that you'll be able to find some help soon. There are so many here to offer suggestions and just a shoulder to lean on.
Keep us posted.Never heard of IC til suspected....Never knew so many suffer from it. Praying for a cure.I've found answers...so can you...keep the hope.

I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time right now. I do have some suggestions that might help. Be sure you are drinking enough water. I know it can seem like it will just cause more frequency, but if the urine is diluted it isn't as irritating. Another suggestion is to use a squirt bottle to rinse the area after urinating and gently blot the area --- don't wipe --- with plain white, unscented toilet tissue.

solideogloria: I hope today finds you feeling better. I know that awful feeling & it is horrible! Always check for a bladder infection when you flare, just in case. If ice doesn't help, try a hot bath (no bubblebath) Hope you feel better soon!!
