  • Why? Curious...

    Hey IC family

I have a question. So I have been noticing more and more latley (since I started working two jobs) That when I am working I DO NOT HAVE A BLADDER, if you know what I mean lol,at least I can't feel it. I don't pee unless I HAVE to every 3 hours, I don't have pain, I dont have ANYTHING....No burning no nothing- just a normal bladder.

When I have a day off, that is when I feel my bladder, never fails either. As soon as I go do some jogging I feel better, but it has to be like active something, like going to the gym or running around etc. I know that this doesn't just happen because I am "focused" on something else... that doesn't explain why I have no feelings or symptoms when I am active... Maby is it because I have more blood going to my pelvis when I am active? Why is this? Wouldn't activity make things worse you would think if your bladder is inflammed and your running around jumping etc?? It is so bizzar...! Everytime I wanna relax I can't (well sometimes it isnt a problem) because I know that if I lay down or relax that my bladder will start getting upset... it's like it is forcing me to have a more active lifestyle ..lol which isn't a bad thing I have to say. I feel reallly good when I am out and about.. Another thing.... sex makes it better as well? As soon as I have sex I am fine for a little while, which is also weired again-- doesn't sex make IC worse? It just doesn't make sense to me--- when there is all that thrusting (sorry) lol going on... wouldn't that NOT be good?? Bah... Im so confused? Would that have anything to do with the blood in the pelvis thing?? Weired....I was told I didn't have PFD? and that my muscles down there were fine???

Also, If I eat something I am not supposed too( which I try not to do) and I have discomfort... as soon as I start walking etc my flare goes away most of the time... so it seems like food is a trigger, but then isn't at the same time if it can just go away like that??

    Anyways, anyone else have this?

    28 yrs old,

I have little to no problems now with my bladder, unless I am very stressed out, I forget to take Elmiron for a few days, or I eat or drink something that I know is a trigger...(i.e) like eating a tomato or drinking tea.... Took a long time to get here, but it IS possible to feel good again I just want people who are new to know that IT CAN get better, and for every one person who is suffering, there are hundreds of others who feel GREAT because they have control of thier IC.

What Works: Tylenol 3's, Pyridium, Elmiron (Going on 4 years now!) HOT showers!!!

Medications/ Vitamins: Elmiron-100mg 4x's daily Tylenol 3's/Advil (flaring) Vitamin D, WILD salmon oil 4x gels in the morning, Women's ONE a DAY multivitamin (the gummy kind doesn't make me flare) and PROBIOTICS!

Pretty much the same for me on all counts, except for being active making my food flares lessen. Nothing really helps those except lots of water and AZO. When my 8 year old stepdaughter is at our house (50% of the time) I have very few symptoms because I'm up doing things, not thinking about my bladder. Never fails, the day she goes to her other house, I start to pee more and my pelvis starts aching more.

Sex has never bothered me, and when my pelvic pain was at its worst, this time last year, it served to loosen me up down there a bit, and did make me feel better. Now that I'm managed, it has no effect on anything.
    Symtoms started July 2010.
    Severe pelvic floor pain only.

    2 time PT graduate!
In medical remission since August 2011; able to eat and drink anything I want currently.

    IC meds:
200 mg Elmiron in the morning
    100 mg Elmiron @ night
    Macrobid after intercourse

I was the same way. If I had a pretty bad flare and went walking, about 10 minutes into the walk the pain and urgency disappeared. If I layed around the house on the couch it actually got worse. I think it must have something to do with increased blood flow, increased endorphin levels, and maybe calming of the pelvic floor muscles. Same with driving. When my symptoms were pretty bad and driving was a killer for me as soon as I got out of the car stood up and walked around for a while the pain disappeared. The days that I was really active and busy I had no symptoms. It didn't exactly make for a good nights sleep though as I never figured out how to sleep standing up!

hahah yeah sleep would be an issue! It is so weired! When your hurting all you wanna do is lay around... and its always supposed to make you better!... well not in our case... lol I guess there could be worse things though. I have never had the pelvic pain, just the frequency. But when I work and do whatever most of the time I dont have TIME to even have a sip of water for a few hours when its crazy busy... doesnt bother me at all that im dehydrated, doesnt make my frequency worse, it makes it better!.. bah. On the brighter side, at least we are ABLE to be very active and it helps!

Guess im gonna turn in to a workaholic hahah jk.
