  • Pus in urine

I just got a call from my doctors office after my regular physical that I have pus in my urine with absence of bacteria. They said that it is probably my IC. I have an appointment on Monday to see the uro anyway, but I keep getting this. I haven't been feeling very well lately. Could it be an infection just the same?

I thought pus was an infection.

It's an indication of an infection.

You could certainly have a chronic infection. The pus is usually a sign that your body's immune system is actively working and trying to fight off some type of infection.

Though saying that I would think that if your bladder is irritated due to IC it could minic the signs of an infection and that's why it's trying to use the immune system to 'fight it off'.

It could be that you're at the very beginning of an infection? It's good you'll be seeing your uro.
