I have been diagnosed with IC since 2005. Anyway I have been able to manage it with diet and elavil and vistaril. I had a UTI a couple weeks ago they put me on Cipro and I was still having the doubled over pain while peeing and so they gave me a recephin shot and macrodantin. Anyway it has been a week and I am not hurting like I was but I still feel like I have been kicked in my pubic area and my bladder feels like it is burning. They did a urinalysis again this morning and I have a lot of blood in my urine. Is this from the IC? He wants me to take a low dose of steroid to help the inflammation. Is this normal? THanks

I almost always have red cells in my urine, but not visible without a microscope.

The times I have taken it my Dr. has varied the doseage from 5mg -50 mg not too sure how many times a day, I think maybe 1x per day, I try to take it as early in the day as I can.
I find it stimulates me, not to the point of noticing it or feeling jittery, I don't sleep if I take it too late in the day, but lots of meds do that too me, so I think it is something used to bind the meds not the meds themselves.
Good luck with it, if you read up on the side effects, don't worry about them they sound scary but usally happen to people on it long term, not that you shouldn't pay attention to the ones that may indicate an allergic reaction. I mean the ones that say you may bloat or get that moon face, these don't happen on short term usage.
Let me know how it works out for you.
