Turns out I had a UTI. I finally went to my uro and they took a sample and - tada! UTI. But I'm doing better I think this is only my second for the year and it's almost the end of the year.

I live in a small town so my uro is only up here 2 days a week. She'd told me when I dropped off a sample to request to have her paged. So I did that and the nurses said "oh we're in contact with her everyday, we'll let her know". Only they didn't because my uro didn't find out until 48 hours later.

She was really apologetic for that today and told me a way I can page her directly (she didn't give me her number but there's some automatic system if I call a switchboard).

My UTI was e coli based (all of mine are) and she suggested I try taking D-Mannose supplements. It's the sugar from cranberries that attracts e coli in the bladder, then it clings to the D-mannose and is flushed out during voiding. She said it might help as a preventative. I just need to buy some.

I get that too, thought I was alone cause it sounds so wierd! I see that I'm in good company. Benadryl! What a great idea!! If you think about it, the IC is responsive to other antihistamines so it makes sense. Kinda goes along with the autoimmune side of things if you think about it.
My uro gives me Atarax which is an antihistamine but I've only taken it a few times, so I'm gonna revisit that idea.
It's been a bit since you posted that, how are you feeling? Did your symptoms ease up?

I take Claritin in the morning during the spring & fall seasons. Then if I'm still feeling allergy &/or bladder symptoms, I'll also take a dye free Benadryl at night. Itchy bladder is a really annoying symptom!

    Itchy bladder-venting

So in the past I've had some itchiness that I didn't know what it was but I knew it wasn't vaginal itching and it did't last long.

Yesterday I started getting it again only worse and did some research and discovered it's my bladder! I got some Benadryl and took it and it helped. But I went to bed without taking a second dose and I woke up with the itching again. I've taken more Benadryl and I was trying to use ice packs to help numb everything (but that's not working). I don't think the Benadryl has had a chance to kick in yet.

This is torture! I really hope the Benadryl works because I don't know how I'm going to stand this much longer
Working...
