  • Proteinuria

Hello! I have IC and was diagnosed in 2012. Right now my symptoms are very little and I no longer take Elmiron. Yay! Lately I noticed that my urine has been a little cloudy. I had a urine culture that showed no infection but protein in my urine as well as leukocytes and a moderate amount of blood. The blood is nothing new but the leukocytes and protein are new. Has anyone else had this? Is this a normal IC thing? I just moved and am between urologists right now. Thanks! Tiffany

How long has it been since you stopped taking Elmiron? Unfortunately, symptoms can return when we stop the medications that put us into remissions. Some can reduce the dosages, however. I think it would be a good idea for you to find a urologist soon. If you scroll to the top of this page and click on "ICN Front Page" you'll find a link to a list of medical professionals.

      Re: Proteinuria

I stopped taking elmiron 4 months ago. I can't afford it at this point. I have had the symptom of blood in my urine but never leukocytes or protein. I was wondering if others have these symptoms as well on a regular basis that have been attributed to ic?
