I think strep caused my ic, shortly after giving birth to my second son, i came down with a bad case of strep,it didnt just go away soon, it stayed in my blood for awhile, but thats when i just didnt feel right, I always had pressure and pain, I just thought i had a bad urinary tract infection, A year later, three doctors later i was diagnosed with this IC crap. I think having strep and stress caused it. I still have neck pain and pain between my shoulder blades and pain in my hands and feet occasionally. I dont know but i thimk its all related. Does anyone out there have a similar situation?? Take care, Janelle

I developed IC after a couple months of continuous strep throat infections. I also believe my IC is autoimmune in nature as I have fibro, TMJ, IBS, high ANA. I got IC when I was 23, now I'm 31. It's been a long road, but seem to have gotten much better with the right meds and the IC diet. This is the first time I've heard someone else with the strep connection!
Best,
Jeanne

Mine started with strep in my eye. Now it's in my bladder and won't go away. I also agree with the auto-immune theory. I can't seem to get out of bed anymore and I've always got full body pain.Jamey

heh, i too had a bad 4 month strep throat infection a couple of months before i got IC (not to mention 6 bottles of antibiotics involved).diagnosed IC Jan 2007 (though i feel i've had it mildly for years)
frequent UTIs
No frequency, just urgency and pain!
tramadol 50mg twice a day. this stuff works good for nerve pain!!!! (update, i'm down to mostly one pill a day now!)
Physical Therapy. if you have pelvic nerve pain or muscle pain, its worth a try. it helped me with the constant burning.
TENS may help a little
Cystoprotek might be helping as well. i'm getting better as time goes on and this could be why.
fish oil, herbal teas, skullcap (might try passionflower for nerves) I'm not very diet sensitive.
Went OFF elavil and nortryptiline (worked wonders, but didnt like the weight gain)

I believe my IC started last winter, after I had 1 sinus infection, 3 throat infections and 2 bladder infections in three months!! I was on 6 or 7 different rounds of antibiotics! Then it just became the lingering IC and a lingering sore throat...IC symptoms since Dec. 12 2010 after confirmed bladder infection "never went away." Recently also diagnosed with PCOS, piriformis syndrome, and pelvic floor dysfunction, sinus issues. I was in great health before fall 2010.
