  • SURGERY/UTI = IC

    Hi,

In my case, I believe my IC started when I had a hysterectomy when I was 30 for endometriosis. While I was still in the hospital I was very sick with a bladder infection which they treated with IV antibiotics. It was after the surgery that my bladder "problems" began. The uro at that time diagnosed it as "urethritis" and gave me many antibiotics and did many urethral dilations. Over the years, the frequency and urgency became second nature to me. I was told years ago that I had "TB" - a tiny bladder! As the years passed it was the bladder and pelvic pain that got so bad that finally led to the diagnosis of IC. But that took over 25 years, so now I believe I have end-stage IC with a very small bladder capacity. I am having a C & H on March 19 which I am praying and hoping will relieve some of the pain. Recently, the pain got so bad that I got some B & O suppositories from my family doctor and at least they do give me a modicum of relief from the constant severe pain and spasms.
