I kind of wish there was a place to see statistics of how many people near your city, state, country have IC/IBS/or other somewhat related symptoms. Also statistics on what other types conditions are present with each persons IC, and what they think happened right before the onset, and if others related to them share the same symptoms etc.

I was asked those questions in the University of Maryland EPIC (Events Preceding Interstitial Cystitis) research study. I don't know what the final result of their data is. Anyone out there know of a good comprehensive summary of that research?Kadi

Current treatments:
-IC diet
-Elavil 50mg at night
-Continuous use birth control pills (4-5 periods/year)
-Heparin/Marcaine/Sodium Bicarb home instills at night 3-4x per week, more often if needed
-Pyridium if needed,
-Pain medicine at bedtime daily, as needed during the day several times per week
-Antibiotic when doing an instillation to prevent UTI
-Colace & SmartFiber to treat chronic constipation from meds, Fleet enema as needed
-Dye Free Benadryl 50 mg at bedtime
-"Your Pace Yoga: Relieving Pelvic Pain" dvd, walking, treadmill at gym
-Managing stress= VERY important!
-Fur therapy: Hugging the cat!

I would like to know how many people in Bulloch County have got IC. Yep! Oh! I have known one female for years, but I have not seen her ever since I was told she was diagnosed with IC. OK. I was told she was thrilled to recieve the letter written and sent by me.(a while back) (members of the same church) Also, one lady saw my IC sweatshirt that I had made and asked about it.(and an IC patient) OK. She said she had no insurance and was not seeing the urologist any longer. (a 19 years old that I tried to tell to come on here) I 'd like to know how many people in Georgia have been diagnosed with IC as well. Statistics can change and even be deceiving to me at times. By the way, I'd like to know about that research study as well.Comment

Very interesting I wish they would do a in depth study they may be able to connect the dots and find out what the cause is of this horrible desease.
