I had a hysterectomy followed by both ovaries removed 3 years later. That's when it all started. Not a single problem before then. makes me wonder if my bladder was injured somehow during surgery. Or is this all hormone related? I take Evamist estrogen replacement and my levels are good. I do have really bad allergies and am sensitive to everything on the planet which must play into it. I still don't understand why this has happened, why I have periods of remmission and then WHAM parties over!! Flare time
I'm Perfectly Imperfect and Praying for Remission

I developed IC following a hysterectomy. I honestly think that I probably had it before then, but the trauma of the surgery made it show itself big time.

My mother has OAB really bad and she said it started after her hysterectomy too and got even worse after they made her quit taking oral hormones.
She is doing the interstim trial and so far is thrilled with it. I guess she will have the real thing put in in a week or two.

I can't really remember when I started to develope IC; I know I have having UTI symtoms in my late teens to when my eldest was born, had a c-section with him. It wasn't till I had my youngest that the IC was showing its ugly head; however it took 5 years for the doctors to figure out what was wrong with me.

I've never had any kind of surgery. My IC began after a succession of extremely nasty UTIs.

My theory is that it's there, and it waits for a traumatic event to set it off.

Hi, Flowerchild ~ I never had any bladder issues until after my hysterectomy/bladder suspension surgery. I truly believe it all started as soon as during my recovery period....Immediately painful urge and frequency.
I still don't understand IC or bladder issues either. It seems to have a mind all of its own and rears its ugly head whenever it feels like it.

Prayers that you'll feel better soon and that this is a lovely week for you,
