We were hoping the governors bill would pass. But the wealthy, powerful, men refused. Luckly my wife gets elmiron free, but 3 months no help with pain.I give her my pain meds but she has real bad pain.Don't go to a OBGYN here in Johnson City. They are crackpots.I just ordered my wife some dmso, for internal use, sounds promising. We have tried, marshmellow root, coral calcium, potassium, antihistamines, she took so much AZO that last year she had a bleeding ulcer, lost 4 pints of blood. It has healed now.She got a perscription for a anti pee all the time medicine. She did rest some last night. She has had this since 1998,she never gets more than 2 hours sleep because of pain. she will be 64 this year, and is on social security. Our daughter died this year, and left her 3 children 3,4,and 6 behind. We have the 6 year old,the father is a drug addict. These are trying times for her.Any info would be helpful.Oh yes repeated E.Coli infections. She is a very clean woman, was asking yesterday, since she had a histo in 1988, could there be a bladder intestine adhesion.

Re: no help in Tri Cities area.Tennessee
Any time there is a surgery, there's a possibility for adhesions --- and sometimes they are difficult to diagnose. When I was first diagnosed with IC (1975) I also had adhesions, but they had grown so smoothly they couldn't be felt. My physician finally did an exploratory surgery on me, found and treated the adhesions, and they haven't been a problem since.
Is she following an IC diet? If not, I suggest you go to the link in my signature below and print out the food list there. There's also a link to the American Urology Association Treatment Guidelines there so you might pick up some treatment option ideas that will help.
Sending encouragement your way,

I don't know if this will help, but my Uro did a fellowship in female voiding issues at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville - so I know there are people in their Uro department who are very knowledgeable in IC.

Re: no help in Tri Cities area.Tennessee
Yes some people with I.C. have no problem. Some suggest that it weakens the hydrocholric acid in our stomachs. But I told her to stop, and we will see what the dsmo does.I feel she has had it so long, that she might need bladder repair. But a urologist won't see her, because of no insurance.
