Should I list other conditions too? such as IBS, ect
Should I list other conditions too? such as IBS, ect
I'm trying to complete my online SSDI. When listing my condition for disability should I just list my IC or do I include other problems I have such as IBS, high blood pressure, depression, ect? The others are not the reason for filing so I wasn't sure if they need to be included.
Advice appreciated
~Laura

It's not the number of years in your life that matter but rather the life in your years.
List every condition or disease you are having treatment for. I listed everything from Allergies to scholoisis and depression. The ones you listed add to the aggrevation of your IC
God grant me the serinity to withstand the days ahead!!!
List every single thing you have, as long as there are medical records to document that you have each thing you list. Absolutely, SS can look at an applicant and say, "Well, no single one of these conditions is completely disabling, but the interaction among them is enough to add up to a qualifying disability."
Peace, Carolyn

I would list everything you have documentation saying you have it. I will say that unfortunately, it is very hard to get disability without having a lawyer working for you as they know all the hidden secrets. It is even worse that IC is not a very well known disease and I am positive that they will have no clue what it even is and will likely think it is a UTI or something. I have had this happen to me. I mean I had some of my doctors actually think that IC was just a UTI. Good Luck and I hope you get qualified. I mean if IC is not a disabling disease, then I dont know what is.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I will list everything then. Allegies! I didn't even think of putting down my allergies. Thanks so much for listing that!

I agree that you should list everything that's been officially diagnosed. Just don't list anything that can't be verified by a physician. They will check everything and if there's one fact with no backup, it could be a problem.

I am not a medical authority nor do I offer medical advice. In all cases, I strongly encourage you to discuss your medical treatment with your personal medical care provider. Only they can, and should, give medical recommendations to you. [3MG]

I agree with Donna...make sure that the things you list can be backed up w/
medical records.
But, I disagree about having to have a lawyer. You CAN get approved without the help or advice of one. If you're willing to put the time into it, you can easily be very prepared to present your own case. There really aren't any hidden aspects - they're all listed for you on the SSA site. And, when in doubt, you can always call SSA to have your questions answered. One thing that will greatly help is the ICN Disability Packet. It helps to set you on the right course.
Another thing to keep in mind while completeing the paperwork is to try and keep the emotion out of it. Of course, they need to know how IC impacts you emotionally, but be sure that you're loading them up with tons of facts to go along with it. I found that using statements with bullets as opposed to lengthy paragraphs seemed to get the point across more concisely.
There's nothing wrong with hiring an attorney, and if you feel you need one, by all means, hire one! . I'm just saying that an applicant who is truly prepared can accomplish anything (if not more) than an attorney.
