Has this happened to anyone? SS called me today and said it looks like I am approved. She said she can't guarantee it, but so far they have approved me. (YEAH!!!!!!!) She wanted information on my two youngest sons (12 and 14) and she wanted my checking account information for direct deposit. She said I should know something for sure around the middle of Jan. She said they randomly pick files to audit, they aren't auditing my file, but the person who approved me is being audited. I am so excited, but can't really be until I know for sure.

When the phone rang, I looked at the caller ID and it said "United States Government", and her name was the name of the worker I initially talked to. She was the person I talked to when I first applied. I am sure it was her, because she knew my file. She said she would follow it up with something written. I am excited, but nervous that somthing will go wrong.carlyComment

isn't the caller id the best thing the phone company came out with!
That is wonderful news!!! I was so worried about you there is no telling what people will pull during the hoildays for ex. cash its good to know the caller id said it was from them and it was the same person.
Good Luck and keep us updated.

I received a call from my SS case worker saying that I had been approved and he told me that the ONLY thing that could happen would be a federal audit. He said that something like 1 out of 10 of the cases get pulled. The audit is actually to check to see if the employees on the state level are doing their jobs from what I understand and I was told that it was very uncommon for cases decisions to be reversed but they could be. Well, mine got pulled for federal review and my case was sent to PA which meant a delay in getting my award letter, payment, etc. My case workers was shocked. It was like "if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all." Everthing turned out ok in the end. I also received a call from my local SS office asking for my bank account number - I knew it was her because I had talked to her so many times that she was probably tired of hearing my name, it wasnt like I was giving it to a stranger. But, files can be pulled for federal review. If you have already gotten a call about your bank account number, etc. then you should be good to go. I am happy for you - it is a long road with alot of anxious moments as I know. SusanComment
